When in trouble and your backs to the wall, start unfounded rumours. Create the seed doubt.
Has anyone yet informed Marc of the initiation process that the Lions have for first year players?
Mrs. Murphy would not be pleased.
Regards Pedro.

You get my drift Synbad.
I think you'd be one of the lucky ones if you got the rubber glove.
Rumour has it the "initiation" is the reason they raised the drafting age.
Only heresay mind you, but where there's smoke.
Regards pedro.

If you really wanted to put Marc off maybe just pouint out Jarred Brennan - when they ask 'who?' reply 'exactly!'

Why do some people have trouble grasping the big picture?

Step back from the current plight and think outside the box.

I think Brizzy Blue did an analysis of the 'Cycle Syndrome of Footy' which pretty much summed it up. Teams forced to rebuild inevitably become successful. Where did the Weagles finish in 2001? The Roos in the early to mid 90's, the Aints 4-5 yrs ago etc?. Any 2 bit management consultant could do this analysis and come up with the strategy required to be successful.

At least within the current system, any club can acheive, something Murphy senior could not have acheived at the Roys in the 70's. Murphy junior is looking at a 12-14 yr career, do you think he will only go to a team that may be competitive in the short term? The kid and his family aren't that naive. Don't people think CFC would communicate this to the Murphys?

IMO we have as much chance as the Lions of luring him, in fact I reckon we probably favourites.

all right so I'm holding his picture (tightly in my grasp) and I'm staring away from the Box (replay Brisband versus Bummers) and...and I still don't get it....Should Marc come waltzing the the room or something? 8)

Everyone is raving about the Lions youngsters.

OK, let's compare theirs playing senior footy to ours:

At this stage their good ones are:

Corrie
McGrath
Adcock
Sellwood
Sherman
Merrett
Drummond

vs ours:

Waite
Walker
Thornton
Simmo
Carrazzo
Betts
Fisher
Bryan

I know which group I'd prefer long term.

It must also be really, really tough for those Brizzie youngsters to perform with the likes of Voss, Aker, Black, Lappin, Leppa, Michael, Power, Johnson, Notting, Keating, Charman and the Scotts molly coddling them! How many of these senior players are gonna be running around with the Lions in 3-4 yrs? Maybe 2, 3 maybe?

As if a smart kid like Marc Murphy doesn't already know this!

spot on there jenx

i hate to do it.

but compare where we are at the moment to where st.kilda where before they got their draft picks.

the difference between us and st.kilda is that when we have the talent we will win a flag.

i think u forgot to put the little known Jonathon Brown in the brisbane youngsters list - he will be around for some time and if there is any player one would want to play alongside, instead of agst, i would have thought it would be brown.

but in any event, we have homesickness on our side plus our wonderful youngsters of course!

I'd throw Jared Brennan in there too. He's been out with a knee, but he's shown enough to qualify as a definite talent, I'd say.
