Yes thats right....Malthouse said "we've got a pick before them and that's stiff cheddar for them"

Asked about Essendon*'s "lucrative 2 yr. contract" Malthouse said "we've got heaps of salary cap room for any player....it's not a worry."

Essendon*, Collingwood does it really matter where he goes? It either filth or scum, and both teams have similar lists. I doubt hell ever be a premiership player in those jerseys. Imagine Shane O Bree and Campo on the feild.... clanger city

Wow. I got upset at what Campo has done but have gone through the various stages of grieving (so to speak). The shock, the anger, the bargaining and now I just think the whole thing is just sad.

It seems many are just angry, hell not angry, they are livid to the point of being irrational.

Now Kouta as the captain plays the diplomat and he is in the gun. I suspect if he was on a few hundred thousand less per year, the quality of his leadership would not be questioned.

I read how Kouta's comments damage the club ..... how do they? Would it be preferable for the skipper to stand up and say that Campo has screwed us over and is no longer welcome? I'm starting to believe that internet forums do not represent the membership base at large. We are all diehards with amplified opinions who don't mind a little bit of argy bargy strong wills on our screens. The run of the mill supporter who has better things to do than post on the net however isn't exposed to all of the speculation and inside goss about why a player leaves and many .... MANY supporters will be bewildered and sad that Campo is leaving. I reckon Kouta's comments appease more supporters than they anger.

Daily news and gossip is part of our lives but it isn't part of everybody's life and I think sometimes we get caught up in our internet self importance like we are decision makers for everybody.

Campo has supporters and teammates that are sad to see him go and Kouta and the club have to be diplomatic and recognise them.

All these things to be positive about and yet we try to find negatives in everything still.

Guess what? I am angry with Campo and the way he went about things. I am not angry with Kouta for not feeling the same way I do however. Who the **** am I to tell Kouta how he should feel?

I don't think anyone has had a go at kouta for what he feels, its about what he says in public as a Captain. the theme is - if someone craps on the Club, why contemplate them coming back publicly.

Look, its emotional and many posters here have said lets leave it as surely Kouta was just answering a throwaway question. We'll all react differently to Campo next year, so thats it.

Just a few questions-
* Why does Campo want to go to other bottom teams? If he had a chance to go to a definite top 8 team then maybe you could understand him wanting some success? I think the Pies could bounce in 2006 but I also thought that in 2005.... All this suggests that indeed its all a money ploy by Campo
* Why do people want him to go to Collingwood? If the anti-Campo fans are happy he's an overpaid git then I can think of no better place than Essendon* for him. Sheedy made the bed, he played with campo's mind (according to that article), and now should be held responsible for a $700,000 contract over 2 years for a 30+ player. This sort of $ in comparison to how hard Mark Johnson had to work for his payrise, only marginally higher than Campos, well, I want him to go to Essendon* to stir up that team grouping.

As far as the first question goes, I think Camporeale wants to be anywhere but Carlton. Only a few clubs have a PSD pick, and of those, Camporeale has picked Essendon* becuase he likes Sheedy. Well, he did at least.

$350,000 a year is a big drop, so I don't think it's a money thing.

What were Carlton offering Camporeale? Less than $350,000 a year?

Anywhere but Carlton... but why? Because we lose alot? Cross - Bombers and Pies have as well. Loves Sheedy ? can that be read as just thinks Sheedy is better than Pagan?

I am not sure anyone can say what we offered Camporeale, but the press indicated that we retracted the 2 year offer and just offered a 1 year.

I guess verbs I just don't buy in to the 'I love SHeedy' argument. Guess I could be wrong but it doesn't wash with me.

I read it as being more along the lines of "I can't stand Carlton" rather than "I love Sheedy". The Sheedy factor only comes into it because Camporeale wants nothing more to do with Carlton. The fact he's willing to drop to $350,000 a year indicates all he wants is to get away from Carlton as quick as he can. As I said, only a few clubs have a PSD choice, so I don't think there's an undying love for Essendon*, just a "if I had to choose" scenario.

'Hes willing to drop to $350,000 a year' because it's the best he can get!

So Carlton offered him less than that then?

You know that no one here can answer that. I know nothing other than rumour.

But you said $350,000 is the best he can get, as though it's a fact. I reckon he'd be out the door for less than that even, but that's just my opinion.

Campo is a blood sucker.
He can take his leadership skills to the Bombers and tach their kids what the word 'leadership' meabs.. and everything that comes along with it.

Im just rapt he is gone.

Kouta is out of touch.. hes thinking about mates and not his club.
Hed hate it now.. the age difference between himself and the the kids.

How refreshing is it to see kids like Edwards at the club??

Wants to lead at the Jets.. wills himself to it..

Kouta was a great player.
Maybe an all time great.

But a leader he aint.
