Yeah, I got my own update on it, quote "least said the better", made him realise exactley how much is ahead of him.
Thanks guys. But remember, if at least the kids were trying its a good start. Thats 3/4's the battle, if you have a never say die attitude. AND, really, it's the 2nd game, and not even a proper game of the season, preseason friendlies are the place to make huge mistakes, learn and get the machine oiled for the business end of the footy.

In case you were wondering, the glass is 3/4 full  8)

Did you see the free against Houla on the boundary?

Mr Prez let out the best expletive you would ever here. That umpire had it against us all day. I mean seriously against us all day, never seen such biased umpiring in my life, even the 50 metres he gave against us yet not for us in the same situation. Good luck in the managatang 3rds.

Mate Pagan can choke on any comment he says on the first quarter.

Anyone who was there knew we got our arses kicked. i am sick of these lame arse excuses from Pagan. It is either the players play to his game plan or the players are over him. SIMPLE!!!

I'm finding it hard to gather even the slightest bit of sympathy for those blue assholes!

How long before Denis Pagan starts to come under the pressure? He's been there for a few years now, and you can only hide behind the whole loss of draft pics thing for so long. "

How much of that statement is true, how badly have the draft picks affected the club and how long should we, realistically have to suffer????

Good to see Caaarlton get another 99 point flogging, carrying on in the same vein as the end to last year. Since we also beat them by 99 points, does this mean we are as good, or better than Port ? Given that Caaarlton should be stronger at the start of a new season.

Geez I cant wait to dee the blues vs the crows, If the crows can thrash port by 12 goals and port can spank Carton by 16 goals, by my maths that would mean that the crows would beat Carlton by ...

28 goals or 168 points

I couldnt go but what I would do is put Carlos down back and Lance up forward. That would give us more of a contest down back for starters and lets face it we do look better up forward when Whitnall is there. How did Betts go yesterday.Thornton seems to be struggling at the minute and I believe the weight of playing on bigger guys week in week out has taken its toll on him.

If Pagan has half a brain he would be released to half back .Thornton is a good player who needs to be given a lighter work load to get his confidence back.Back Hartlett and Carlos to do a job on the oppositions gun forwards.Denis have faith in the youngsters.

Can't wait for that!!

Is that because youre hoping we win games or because you dont want to freshen up T Bird???

Were not going to win alot of games.. and we dont want to run our good players into the ground...!!!!

So you just have to compromise...

And maybe.. just maybe Livo plays ok..

It was an absolute shocker yesterday.

We played badly and seemed to go out of our way to make it worse with players out of position and inappropriate match ups.

T-Bird is just not big enough to play Full Back - he doesn't have the size to match a Treadrea and always ends up behind them when they lead.
Even I had to admit it was a free to readrea when T-Bird pushed him in the back about 25m out at the Heatley Stand end.
T-Bird is better at CHB or to be more honest better still on the third option in the opposition forward line.
I think FB is the biggest gap in the team.
I sincerely hope that Livo can step up this year.
Maybe Saddington will add something to the backline.
Hartlett looks fine but is going to take time to put on some size and strength.
What I saw yesterday was that we have very little structure and not much co-ordination between the players in the back line.
It was just too easy for Port to convert.

I don't see the point of wasting the talent of Walker in a contest with Motlop. It was probably fairly even between them but we should have less talented players in the stopping roles and move Walker up onto the wing where he can create and add something to the team.

Some other observations...
I was pleased to read the positive comments on Simpson made by other posters - he was one of our best.
Houla was good and very involved in the first half - not so busy after that.
Stevens was OK - did some clever things and beat two opponents a couple of times.
Fisher got the ball a few times but his kicking let him down. I don't know why he was being played at FF for so much of the game. I would have prefered Setanta to get more time in that position.
Bentick has more muscle and was getting in and under but has developed a flaw in his kicking action. He seems to be slamming it onto his boot. This type of thing should not happen at this level but should be fixable.
Waite looked very underdone. His disposal was shocking but should improve.
Scotland's disposal was worse than just about everybody - but that is nothing new - couint me in with the people that want to see the back of him.
Murphy showed some talent and fight - he will be great but still needs to get used to the speed of the game. I expect that he has been surprised by how quickly he is getting caught.
I liked Bower in the last quarter. He was trying hard. It looked like he was asked to zone off and was a little unsure where to position himself but he read the play well and got the ball a number of times. wice his long bombs resulted in turnovers up field but I won't hold that against him. He took a big hit late in the game and it was great to hear so many supporters yelling encouragement.
Jackson also had a go late in the match and had a few shouting ancouragement to him.

I have to agree with the comments on Umpire 36 - totally crap, ditch him.

One thing that very few may know - after the match Teague was running round the jogging track. He didn't do much in the game - maybe he was punishing himself or perhaps just running out some stiffness. I was pleased to see him doing it especially given the heat yesterday

Best part of the day was my 16 month old grandson got to run around on Princes Park Oval for the first time. The game itself was a bit of a pain.

We did have a fair bit of in early, and seemed to be intent on switching play. Ended up missing targets, or being picked off, then got absolutely murdered on the way back. All over at the First break!!

I have a need to take something positive from any game I go to, so here goes:

1AW did a reasonable job on Motlop, even had a it of a dustup after Motlop trash talked him after that freakish goal in Q2.

Jordan Russell got a bit of the pill late in the game, and does move beautifully.

Young Murph is ready to go…didn’t do a hell of a lot to-day, but he’s all class.

Hartlett did enough to keep me very interested …reads the game quite well IMO. And as for a earlier comment about his lack of pace….being burnt off by Motlop in the last quarter doesn’t really count….. so there!!

I suppose I see anything involving Carlton through rose coloured glasses, but our effort against Geelong wasn’t the worst, and for the moment, I’ll hang my hat on that!!

Houlahan was done his apprenticeship now is moving up the ground its walks turn. Players are happy to run forward but when it comes to running back different story.

Synbad its called accountable football our players need to work on there defensive side to there game every footballer should look at deledio he is moving into attack my arse that kid would chace the ball down.

Dennis is moulding these kids you have no idea mate im sorry youcant let a number 2 draft pick run around and do what he wants willy nilly DOES NOT WORK LIKE THAT.

its a friggin practice match played in 30+ heat ... if we had won by 100 points then it prob would have made as much difference than being beaten by 100 points

prob worse if we had won by 100 poins then we would have been given a false ideal of where we are..

I will srcutinise much more in the HW season but we where competative with cats last week as where the Bulldogs ... this week both teams got smashed i dont think Eade is worried ..

The practice match is just that a hit out ... test out positions find out where players are ... how fit players may be ... get some match fitness under the belt. agreed could have been a lesser margin but i am not worried too much at this stage.

Lets face facts last year we won the wok cup and thought the year would jump out the gate instead we had the season from hell. this year is really unknown and will only be known once we see 4-6 matches in the proper season then we can make a true assessment

I think it was more than just a practice game.
It was a game before a family day for a club that needs as many members as possible.
Its a day where early in the year the kids are looking for positives from the coach that things can improve.
Its also a day where you try out different things you have been working on in practise and fine tuning them for the real stuff..... we had NO STRUCTURES in place ... at one stage Houla was in the centre square ruck contest because we decided to interchange the ruckmen... who the hell is doing the interchanges in the box???...

If they cant even get a simple thing like that right.. how the @#$%&! are they going to work out structures and tactics in this day and age???

DISGRACE!!!
UNFORGIVABLE!!!

could have cost us tens of thousands..!!!

thats all!!!
