I think its obvious to 99.9999999% of people who arent blind or stupid that TBird is going through a patch .

I think stupid and uneducated people are the ones who disregard form over 3 AFL seasons in favour of 2 practice games.

T/bird struggled badly with his disposal and decision making last year as well.

I bet you'd struggle too if you're a sitting duck :\

All needs to be taken in context. Is he not performing, or are his teammates not performing.

Let's take a wild guess there.

Thornton has been over rated by many for a long time now.

The same people who over rate him are the ones makeing the excuses like - oh hes not big enough , hes playing outside his weight division, hes more a flanker than a fullback , we are being unfair to him etc etc

Hes just not as good as you all think he is, simple

The same goes for half our players , we over rate them and then wonder why we lose all the time.

This hole we are in is very deep and will take a long way to dig ourselves out of.

( no no no dig up stupid - simpsons quote )

I think Kernafidamides has no idea...
and jimmea.. i think youre misunderstanding.
T Bird is a talent but he aint playing well at the moment.. but ok lets pretend he is ... so a couple of you are happy.

How pathetic eh???? Were closing our eyes instead of helping address the problems.
alot of good that will do TBird when he is on the crap heap....

We have to try and isolate whats wrong...!!!...

Or ideally someone higher up should.

After a couple of average performances in practise matches?

If he had been doing it for a full two games in a row in the real season, yeah I'd be concerned. Now? I'm just happy provided their fitness levels are good, they're confident in their disposal and application of their portion of the game plan and that they're not injured.

EDIT: clarified

T Bird didn't cost us high draft selections...we should reflect on where he was picked, what he has achieved and whether that has cost us early.

What's the cost? What's the benefit? Could we have done better? How?

To me he has been a bonus to the club like Fisher, and has played beyond our wildest expectation.

My opinion of him is that he has shown a lot of potential, he has played many good games. He took the position of the number 4 draft at FB, and yes he was a tall lanky, skinny kid. He has received a lot of praise, and yes he is playing out of position against gorillas; that's not his fault. He is part of our future. He is still young and growing in stature, let alone experience

Over the last 2 years he has at least backed himself going for marks, carried the ball, and tried his heart out. If he was a top 20 selection then there may be reason for discontent. If he was paid $250K+ then we have something else to harp about.

I value Synbads opinions/ input highly, as I do Kernafidis...but stop slapping each other, I'm starting to get a nose blead.

In relation to Thornton I think you guys are all missing the point.

Thornton was underrated as a player and one of our few shining lights in recent years. He played on bigger guys giving away height and weight and trys his guts out every week.He hurts his knee in 2005 and struggles for form since then.So why doesnt our flower coaching staff put him on a back flank so he can find form.

I would be far more critical of 30 guys on our list before Thornton.Give me a flower break

As for Hartlett He impressed me In the Geelong game but was off injured and I hope he doesnt end up like another Johnny Hay who I guarentee will have the Kangaroos brains trust scratching their collective flower craniums on why they picked him up.

I reckon its because we feel we hav e no other options down back. I reckon that the form of Livingston and having to find room for Whitnall down back means Thornton is pushed back from half back to full back and it's not his natural spot. Much better at half back in my books.

WHen Saddinton comes in he'll probably have to play deep in defence - again out of position - to try to prove this Whitnall is a defender point.

Its nuts.
