Post subject: | Game plan in the coming weeks |
You might recall towards the end of last year DP freed up the team and allowed a more attacking and 'happier' team and the team improved. I would forget the current game plan if I was DP and give the players more scope to attack. What have we got to lose? The players are bigger, stronger and can cope with a potentially higher impact game plan. I'm no coach and I'm the last person to claim myself as an expert. This goes beyond the DP 'stay or go' opinion that is circulating at this time. This is about something different that might change our fortunes in the here and now. It's worth a try. What do you all think? |

We might have a shite list but when we have a full list to pick from and select our best 22, we don't look "That Bad ". We have hope But then as per our so called "Game Plan " we soon realise we have no hope. We need to play to our strengths , surely we have some, surely our coach could devise a game plan to assist this. How long will we keep telling oursleves our players are no good.. Maybe they are starting to believe it. Oh Well ![]() |

Couldn't agree with you more, Zoneman. Take off the shakles and see what happens. Still I do honestly think that we have yesterdays coach and need to step foreward. |

Classic 2nd Effort!!!!!!!!! I agree in riding off the season to a certain degree but I don’t want to deliberately tank. There is no point in saving games because it won’t help the development of team. We now have the time to try new things and allow our players to learn a future game plan. We should be backing our young players to run off an opponent and try to make them use there best judgement. If it is a clanger we have to make sure the coaching staff doesn’t drag and drop him but teach him other options so he learns. I like the way the team is looking now because there is a balance of young and old and it should be kept the same. There is no point playing Kennedy, Bower, Hartlett, Russell, Setanta in the one game because they won’t learn anything. |

Any game plan is worthless without decent skills. |

We should be developing there skill! That is why we have training. They should learn how to kick, handball, mark etc. We can’t depend on the draft to give us stars; we need to teach them to become better player in all aspects. We can blame draft picks but the fact of the matter is we need to turn our drafted players into Class A players no matter what there pick number. We can have all the draft picks in the Australia but unless our "professional coaching staff" teach them, they will be a waste because these young players wont develop to the best of there ability because of sh*t guidance. |

I am in the minority and before you accuse me of being part of the coaching panel but I don't think our list is all that bad. It's because we think it's bad that it is bad - very jungian I know, but thoughts create reality. There is talent on our list but I think, with respect to DP the game plan he is adopting probably isn't helping. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong and I'm willing to accept that I am off the mark, but something different should be tried to bring out the best in our players. |

Stop the flooding for one... Flooding doesn't work on the bigger grounds such as the MCG. Its such a taxing gameplan and its no wonder our skills and run after half time in the past 2 weeks at the G have been crap. I'm sick of this flooding crap and when we go forward we have to wait until players push forward, its no wonder we get it the wing/chf and the ball turns overs and comes back. Play with some structure and attack.... |

disagree somewhat - richmonds skills arent that great - compare the way their team plays (continually prepared to back themselves to take the opposition on, faith from coaches, reinforcement of a positive vibe) to our team (flooding, negative mindset with matchups etc) and tell me which one you would prefer to see. Yes they got a 100point belting in round one - but they have managed to claw themselves to 3:3 |

other difference is that 1st gamers are given the opportunity to spend ample time on the field and are actively encouraged to show some flair/initiative (ie oakley-nicholls etc) whereas our players are either told to negate or given 2 minute bursts on the field for a couple seasons before they are given a proper go (ie walker, simpson etc) |

Start every centre bounce with all 18 inside the defensive 50. That means they won't have to waste energy flooding. |
