or in the words of 'Oddball' from one of my favourite movies "Kelly's Heroes' "Your negativity is getting me down man"

Given that most of us accepted the fact that this year was going to be a rebuilding year and that the most likely finish for the team would be somewhere in the lower, lower reaches of the ladder, there are still some things happening within the team to satisfy everyone.

* Who couldn't be pleased with 'The Messiahs' first year, he is an absolute gun, rarely makes a mistake and often makes far more accomplished oppoents look foolish.
* Lets not forget Lances return to career best form, geez I wish we had two of him. Lance would be in front by a mile in the B&F and should be up picking a few Brownlow votes as well. Our next Captain maybe?
* Oher than yesterday we are not getting belted and the team are having a redhot go. Yes I know our skills are poor, but maybe if the lads settled down a little and not rush thier disposals we would see a massive improvement in that area. A little belief lads, you are good enough.
* Fev is second on the goal kicking tally and is now displaying the consistancy week in week out I have been waiting for.
* Both Houla and Lappin are playing well, and both fought it out to the end yesterday. Can't expect more than that
*As for the youngsters, give em time. They are trying and when it eventually clicks, watch out!!

For other more interested in the off field stuff, there are pleasing things as well.

* Some no doubt would be delighted to see the back of Collo, despite the fact that without him, there would be no club. I will be forever grateful for his contribution to the club and yes the timing of his departure was correct.
* For those who have an obession about obtaining the 'precioussss' priority draft pick they will be hanging out at the TAC games for the 'second coming' in anticpation of our near certain bottom of the ladder finish. ( Don't know about you but I find it slightly discomforting about adult men salivating over teenage boys, the way some do on here  )

So really guys, lets relax and just enjoy going to the footy and ignore the scoreboard as we have a way to go yet. And here is the sting in the tail, we had better enjoy barracking for the Blues because in five years we might find ourselves barracking for a merged or relocated team and that is not something I am looking forward to.

Peace

Mark

Good to have you back Mark.

Agree with some of what you say but can't agree Lappin is playing well. Whether its injury or something else he is a shadow of the player we know he can be.

good points, agree with most, but i have to also agree with the statement regarding lappins poor form. he almost needs a week in the seconds to regain some perspective, watching the replay it looks as though hes just going through the motions.

Wonder what our membership numbers or worse our sponsership figures are going to be like next year if we keep going down the same road Mark. It ain't going to be pretty.

The AFL will be our largest sponsor next year. We should increase the size of the AFL logo on our jumper to reflect their contribution.

Understand some of your sentiments but the last 2 weeks have been excruciating
However whilst you have to be careful with stats looking at them Fev is second on goal kicking list but playing one less game than those who are equal first place - whitnall has more marks than anyone else in the comp and houlihan is 3rd in the kicks list for the year - these bear out some of your points
However other than those 3 mentioned it doesnt say much for the rest leaving aside the new players murphy kennedy and perhaps walker

Love Kellys Heroes too mark, Donald Sutherland makes a great Hippy Tank Commander, pity that there werent any hippies around until 15 years after ww2, but why spoil a great story!!

I was there yesterday and it was depressing. 1st half was great, but on field aside, there would have been 2/3 of the crowd in Black & white. Cash Coverters must be doing a roaring trade on MCC ashtrays and washroom fittings today!!! Their mob was cheered remorselessley and our mob was booed. It was like farting against thunder to cheer the boys on!

Even the adverts on the radio were having a crack, there was one from Ray White real estate about Carlton supporters needing to move house to get a bigger kitchen for all of the wooden sppons. Very funny I must say, (note to self never use Ray White ever). Even if they were trying to be funny, why would a real estate agent choose to have a crack at us. Note to Ray White in over 100 years we have 2 spoons. St Kilda have too many to count. Unless you are now selling real estate to leprechauns, your adbvert is bullsh1t!!!!

You never did answer the question re Membership,Surrey....Are you paid up?.

Seems to me that when things are tough is the time when real supporters step up!

Firstly can I just say that I have answered the question and yes I am signed up again, not that it has anything to do with you. Just for your insight, I haven't missed ONE Victorian match this year, again, how about you?

Secondly, it's imbeciles like you that have turned people off this site. Truly pathetic individual.

As per usual, he can't keep his tongue from a backhanded remark about a poster who's on these boards for the last 6 years at least. Typical of you Surrey. He asked a simple question about whether you've paid up to become a member and you give him a load of contemptuous, Sydney-phobe diatribe.

Sometimes, I think TC is better off without posters like that.

Pee Wee ... I was attacked and retiliated. If you cannot see that, then that's your problem. By the way Pee Wee, what's it got to do with you?

As for TC ... If the moderators have a concern they can discuss with me not you.

:

Congratulations Surrey,my question was in response to your indication a month or so ago about not purchasing a Membership!

As for your snide shot about how many games i have seen this year, my address would indicate that answer. It does,nt however preclude me from watching every game on TV nor does it disallow me from dipping my hand in my pocket for premium gold Membership or supporting a myriad of fund raisings!
.Does it make me a worse supporter than you?. My unwillingness to forever lambast the Club has been consistant over the years.I dare say a perusal of your posting history would highlight the opposite.

With regards my being an "imbecile",i bow to your superior intelect!
The quality of your posts on Bigfooty and the like have definitely highlighted a man with a mind like a steel trap!

It's your continuing attack on individual posters that annoys me 7dom.

I have not been proven wrong too many times in the past dom, ie. Collo is gone is he not? and we are stuck at TD. Pagan and the players still going head to head ....

You see some posters who question the clubs direction, just might have some type of cause.

As for the bigfooty .... well I like to fight fire with fire and if that means stooping to their level, no problems. Why the fascination of what I do over there though? This is what I don't like, your constant ridicule of poster being less than you and others. Is it a Sydney thing? :P

Spot on..... Make the best of what we get.
I'm actually feeling a bit better to-day..... last Sunday was hard to watch, (I looked at the scoreboard)…. I was feeling pretty crook after that.

BUT

By next sunday I'll be fired up and off to the MCG once again. Hoping for..... Well.... always hoping.... always going!!!
