If we just for a moment can get away from the Pagan and player discussions and also forget everything about who and what is to blame for our financial worries.

Things that stand clear to me after last nights Footy Show:

- We are now officially stuffed. Those who actually have read the annual reports and looked at the membership numbers knew that – but now it is “publicâ€

Just a quick question...

Are we in real danger of losing players such as Walker, Betts, Murphy, Waite, Stevens etc because of our cash crisis?

Well, they will come out of contract eventually and if their market value is above what we can pay (especially if we only can pay 90% of the cap) and at the same time we are a rabble with no success on the field.... what do you think?

The Spew was just on the radio (news) saying that Smorgon "might have over stated the problems" or something like that. Also said that the Board has not even offically taken a decision to ask for assitance. OMG

How stupid does Smorgon look now?

Isn't it ironic that the AFL fined us about $1,000,000 and took away our draft picks and now we are suffering so much that we need to ask the AFL for that amount if not more back from them.

Do you think if the AFL had not have crucified us so bad, would be be in the same situation?

From what I was told we have enough cash to meet commitments especially in the the Football department in the "short term". We are simply well short of members "revenue" because they are being either turned away or pigheaded, about watching crap football and negative coaching. We will seek CBF assistance from the AFL. We won't lose any decent players but some guys seeking a rise might disappear, good thing Kouta's insane contract is up. As Michael Malouf has said all along, nothing new has happended except the membership and reserved seating numbers are way down. Again this is not unexpected just being presented that way for effect. The chances of Pagan getting sacked and paid out are none and none. We will win Sunday get along and support the boys and coach and if not support your club. And If we lose we can all go-karting.

Perhaps he told it how it was, but Demitrihoe is smart enough to know that dumping all over your brand doesn't help you attract sponsors.

Yes, if you like public humiliation.

Can anyone run this club without dragging our name through the mud everytime they open their mouth??? The answer to that would appear to be no.

Read my lips

We are stuffed.

Who do you think would know more about CFC finances - Spew or Smorgo???

HELLO IS ANYONE IN THERE???

WE ARE BANKRUPT. THE ONLY REASON WE STILL OPERATE AS A GOING CONCERN IS BECAUSE OF POTENTIAL AFL BACKING.

And where does that money we get from the AFL go - STRAIGHT TO THE NAB.

WE SPENT LONG TERM MONEY FOR MOVING TO TD - WE SPENT IT SHORT TERM.

WE HAVE SPENT IT ALL - CAPISCE??

does anyone know if the players have been calling non-renewed members to try and convince them to join? This is common practice at other clubs but doesn't appear to happen at Carlton - I don't think many people would say no to Fev on the phone.

On more important things, why are we begging for extra members now? The writing was on the wall before round 1 that we were tracking badly but nothing was done. There are so many things that piss me off at the moment ie, Did collins leave cos he saw this coming? Did we gain nothing by moving to TD except lost social club revenue and less reserve seat renewals?

Does anyone have Dick Pratts phone number? I am too lazy to work out what % $5million is too his overall worth but I am guessing it equates to about $200 for the average person - (if you understand where I am heading)

Nope, Kouta's retiremnt will now NOT free up money to pay any increases or getting an outside player via PSD. We are currently still paying in the high 90's of the cap and if we want to go below 92.5% as stated by Smorgon and only half of Koutas current salary is counted in the cap (vet list) - that simply means that Smorgon is not planning to pay one more $ to any player then what they are currently receiving.

This means there is a great chance that any upcoming young player seeking a raise has to look for a new club......

They did this (Collo let them use the call centre at the Dome) a month or two ago. It was mentioned on this site. Somebody mentioned that it had only very limited effect.

He went overboard to try and get members. Whatever members we may gain from it we've lost value on the brand that you can't get back easily. What an absolute moron you are Smorgon

Exactly. For example, in 2 years time when the Eagles and Dockers come with their open cheque books and start telling Josh Kennedy how great it will be for him to come "home" and be surrounded by his friends and family - what will we possibly use to entice him to stay????

We will want to pay him less and expect him to stay at an unprofessional organisation away from his family and friends. Gee the choice would be very hard for him.

We're a rabble.

Yes the players did a ring around. We were tracking badly but 2 or 3 wins would have helped early on. They are probably desperate now because we got pansted on the weekend and they've seen our draw for the next month.

It has been suggested that Collins left because he didn't want to go to the AFL to access the CBF and the rest of the board did.

We got several million dollars out of the move to TD. I for one assumed that would come straight off our debt. It looks like we used it to make up the cash flow short fall from lack of sponsorship instead.

I think if Dick was going to fix our problems he would have done it already.

i hear everybody talking about how we have bad cashflow and the board is to blame ect, I hear people saying we need more cashflow and a better board, well lets put up some answers, who should we get on the board to turn this around? do we have some alternatives, remember collingwood went through this in the mid 90's and eddie came in and turned it around i think we need a big high profile ruthless businessman to come in and take the reigns, i am not sure of any big high profile people that fit this bill but i am sure you melbournians could suggest a few.

the cash flow problem, ok maybe we need to start pushing the afl for these games like good friday against richmond, maybe anzac day night against west coast, playing interstate ect. Approach big businesses for more corporate support, get players on the phone to sign up members,

well i know this problem is severe and i am going to sign up for a membership now!
