Looks like there's more confidence there between the players. |

This is the win we needed to have against Richmond or Hawthorn. Even though it was a team that has now lost 6 straight there's nothing like a win for a young team. |

The game plan was effective, Fev playing as a foward, no flooding. Skills were not as bad as previous weeks. |

Besides the great touch of Murphy and Kennedy, I think Mr.Wiggins deserves a round of applause for an all-round, tough, running game with very good delivery by foot, particularly in the last when in mattered. I take my hat off to you. McLaren as #1 ruck was very solid and exceptional as the punching / clearing defender in the second half. Sort of like Teague's old role from 2004. What this means for French we shall have to ponder.... And it proves we need McGrath as a defender for a while yet, at least until we get some up & coming kid there. He was hard when it mattered. It's great to win, even better when the kids are given sufficient game time. Overall Lance, Scotland and Thornton were my best. Stevens was good but didnt seem to have a hard tag on him. Thornton and Whits two very good games each in a row. |

We played the whole game - not a half. Team seemed to have good balance, but I'm still not sure about DeLuca... Wiggins is a (slightly spazzy) champ. And... we won. |

Bret Thornton played his best game in ages. Good on ya Bret! Other good players for mine were Scotland, Lance, Fevola, Stevens, McLaren and Bentick. We actually looked ok at times today and probably gifted them at least 3 of their ten goals which resulted directly from Carlton players' errors further up the ground. |

KoRn wrote: The game plan was effective, Fev playing as a foward, no flooding. No flooding, that's the part I liked. One thing we do have is a damn good forward line on paper. I liked to see a game plan that gives those guys every chance, meaning no flooding. If the opposition have to accountable for a man in our forward line rather than block up pne or two players, mean there's space to run into, so much easier for our skilled guys to hit a target. I'd just like to rely on numbers in the midfield to put pressure on the opposition, rather than flood back. Also makes it easier to run forward with numbers up. I believe in playing to our strengths and our of those is the players we have up forward. So give them every chance.
Skills were not as bad as previous weeks. As much as I am one of Pagan's harshest critics on here, it'll be nice change for a week to talk above something positive like a win. Sure we'll get back onto Pagan again soon enough! |

Positives : 1- Lance Whitnall : he is a Star....All Australian form this year and yet again should pull at least 1 or 2 Brownlow Votes... 2- Team didnt Tire & Fade away after half time, Although the urge was there just to give it away had Essendon* didnt take their chances... 3- Good form of both Thornton & Saddington.... did very good things.. 4- Less Skill Errors especially in wet Weather, although still lots of work to do.. Scotland still had few costly Clangers... Negatives : 1- Honestly, nothing is changed much as far as Denis's Game plan... still the Same crap....Chip, chip and more chipping......I lost count the number of times we turned the ball Over at our 50m, becuase instead of kicking it Long to a contest at the Goal Square, we decide to pass it 10 m in front to a player, and still Cant hit that player by foot.... Someone has got to get the message through, either to Denis or the players... sTOP Friggin chipping the ball.... We have 3 monsters forward... Fevola, Kennedy and Waite.... Today they were all Screaming for the ball to be kicked long, and So many times their leads were ignored..... ITs about time we start to adapt Pagan's true Style in Kicking long at all cost.....Next week we will go back to our old habits of flooding the backline and then just chipping.....At least if they kick long, they might score from the Rebound and still be in the contest at half time....lets see what happens ![]() |

Why do our skills seem to improve in less than ideal conditions? Not that I'm complaining, just wondering. Awesome effort all round. |
