I am thrilled with the win today, I really am but one thing pisses me off.

Less than 33,000 at the football today. What made it much worse was that it was a Carlton home game. Absolutely disgraceful.

Where have you Carlton supporters gone? I know that these two teams are struggling but that's a pathetic crowd which probably costs the club thousands of dollars at a time when we seriously need every cent we can muster.

I'm sorry but if you're not going to the game because Carlton is not performing well at the moment, but would be going if Carlton was successful, it's simply not good enough. GET TO THE BLOODY GAMES and show your support. I always thought our supporters were good supporters but it seems that a lot of us are extremely fickle and fair-weather fans.

I also realise that today was Mother's Day which would have impacted upon the crowd but I honestly can't comprehend that this once-mighty club has so few people go and watch it these days. There is no excuse. You can't have the good without the bad. Last week against Collingwood there were just under 60,000 but the vast majority were Collingwood supporters.

As you can tell this is really something that annoys me because all of you who don't go now will go I can guarantee when we're a good side again. Just not good enough. If you're a Carlton supporter and in Melbourne and CAN (obviously not everyone can get to every game and that is perfectly normal and acceptable) get to the game then you should BLOODY GO and support us!

Not happy about this :x .

Post subject:  Crowd

The crowd was so great today I completed the count by the 23min mark of the first quarter. I would say the Bombers out numbered us at our home game.

Who needs a partition when people are voting by not turning up to support the club. It may of been mothers day but hell I took my Mum along to the game today, we had the top half of the southern stand above the social club seats to ourselves, i lie actually there was a guy and his daughters about 20 seats away from us. The funny thing he told us before the game that he would not be coming again this year if we lost.

For those at the game it was great to Lance rally the players and send them to all parts of the ground to thank the fans. Problem was we win so little these days only Whitnall knew how to do it properly, was quite entertaining.

Lowest ever crowd to watch these two clubs play at the MCG and the lowest for any clash between the two sides since 1992 (? at PP).

crowd figure was 32967 or something - lowest crowd since 92

And it was the Carlton fans who didn't turn up. Plenty of Dons fans at the game but it was rare to see someone walking around in the navy blue.

social club was quiet too ...

thankfully bosustow (the real one, not the poster here) popped into the hassett room and lifted things with an entertaining and totally improvised soliloquy

I would have my left knacker extracted if I left my wife at home with 3 little ones on Mothers Day. Shocking scheduling - Mothers Day should be reserved for when we play Freo or Port.

good win but.

We really copped the shitty end of the stick with the scheduling!!

Each week, I go with a group of 10 with reserved seats in the new stand .... but ... Coz it's Mum's day .... only 3 of us turned up today ... !!

Luckily, I have a very understanding football widow!! :-D

We should never attempt to play on Mothers Day again. We must ask for it because we have been scheduled to play on this day for the past couple of seasons. It just doesn't work as a big crowd day. Most people would prefer to be home with their family on Mothers Day. Let's use some common sense on this.

Its worse because its Carlton VS Essendon*.
I could live with Carlton VS Fremantle, but we should be getting 60000+ to Carlton VS Essendon*

Obviously the fact that it was Mothers Day didn't help but 33k people to Carlton vs Essendon*? If you had been told that 5 years ago a game between these two clubs would draw that many people there is no way known you'd believe that.

If it was Collingwood or even St Kilda there would have been over 50,000. As I said even last week against Collingwood I thought that just under 60k people was a poor turnout, especially considering the majority were Collingwood supporters.

As far as I'm concerned Carlton supporters in general are just not going to the games anymore and it's not good enough.

Mothers Day, plus the weather was not looking great this morning.

I thought 33,000 wasn't too bad in the end.

Mother's Day, what can I say, suffered through last weekend only to slink home embarrased, spent today cooking breakfast, making cups of tea and having to talk to the mother in law. Must admit though, crowds are way down, 1st really noticed it at the Hawks game, but last week at the Filth, they were booing our mob and there wasnt enough cheers to even begin to counter it.

Grat win today though.

Hopefully the win will encourage a few fair weather supporters go next week.

Would it not have made more sense to schedule today's game on Saturday afternoon and play Freo v Melbourne today?

We would all not be here if it was not for our 'Mothers' so appreciate them. Bad schedule though!!
