whether the rumours of the supposed deal re. the board are true or not, I'm thinking that Mr Pratt could probably be helping the club out of it's current financial woes to some small degree...

And while he's at it, he can drop me a lazy couple of hundred grand.

He wouldn't miss them either.

Mrs K would probably spend it on shoes.

Even if he provided 10 million dollars in an interest free loan.

Sure, it would take years too pay back, but it would sure as shit get the club on the straight and narrow, without having too go to those mongrels at the AFL.

Once the debt is cleared, the club could look at paying back $250 - 500 per year.

That's what we currently pay in interest.

That may take nearly 40 years too pay back, but hey, he wouldn't miss it.

Wasn't he actually a VP under the previous Elliott administration - therefore fully aware/part of the problem??

Somebody could probably correct me on this one.

Whether its $1.2bn, $3.2bn or $5.2bn is irrelevant. Pratt's wealth is not in question.

It's the state of the Club and whether someone is going to bail us out for the mistakes of the past.

Ridiculous...we have 6000 members from last year who cant even put their hands in their pockets for $100, and you people reckon he should tip in $7m.

Great Point BlueDW - as I said on a previous thread:

As I said before servicing the debt is not the issue the difference in servicing a debt of $7,000,000 and $6,000,000 is about $80,000 small potatos in the whole scheme of thing.

The key is to increase revenue.

The board were banking on keeping members at 30,000+ and it hasn't happened.

I am all for unity and sticking fat in a time of crisis and I was all for retaining Denis Pagan and showing some loyalty.

But unfortunately I have seen nothing this year which tells me Denis is changing the team for the better - I was all for patience and all the cliches eg. changing direction on an Ocean Liner it will take time. 3 years into a 5 year sentence.

But clearly the 6000 members are sick of it and dont wont to be a part of it anymore.

These people jumped on board to support Carlton in its darkest hour after Black Friday 2002 when our membership soared for the first time through the 30,000 barrier.

People wont to see some positives - I know too many people who are not renewing their memberships and its the same reason - Pagan.

We have got to get those 6000 members back - and I dont think keeping Pagan as coach is going to bring them back.

They need to see something on the field that gives them hope for the future.

We need some vision from the board not negativity - the media will pounce on negativity, you saw it last night on The Footy Show, what was meant to be a pump up for members turned into a kick Carlton while its down scenario with a President with as much media charisma as a tub of old lard.

The 6000 people are there - they are not a myth, mirage. Abuse them for not sticking fat call them not true supporters - but we need their money and they aint giving it. WHY?????

The Board needs to do something to win these members back - and having the rumour floating around that Pratt/Smorgan are going to tip money in is not going to do it - it will have the reverse effect if any.
