Yes, I have wondered about that myself. By asking for consideration now we are really covering our bases for later on in the season. But it still shows that we might not expect to win more than four games for the year. Considering we are already half way there after 6 rounds I think that it is highly unlikely that we will require that assistance. I think that the early priority pick should be given to a club if they finish last over two consecutive seasons and the normal priority pick rule given to clubs that fail to win more than five games in a season. That way clubs that are eligible for a pick after a season of horrific injuries are not unfairly advantaged, while clubs that are really struggling with their lists are assisted. Whenever you put an amount of games on the table you are encouraging teams to shoot after the "tank" scenario. |

I think after 6 rounds last year we were on 10 points already after wins against Essendon*/Hawthorn and a draw over in Sth Australia against Port. So I don't think that means a great deal. As long as there are "Priority" picks in place of any sort, tanking will be spoken about and implemented by teams. By their very nature they are rewarding a team that has been rubbish. I hope we get shitloads of the bloody things, but the competition is so compromised it's ridiculous. |

You're indeed correct bluehammer, I meant 6 or 7 or whatever round we're up to now and I know that we had a complete compitulation last year, but I can't see that happening again this year with the spirit the boys are playing with, we're too competitive at the moment not to pick up the odd lucky win. But I agree we can't predict the future so it might still be an issue. I think it is good in a way that we are canvassing the matter now. There was a quote from Andy D yesterday saying that "... the AFL will work with Carlton in any way we can, the only thing we can't do is help them win games, unfortunately". Being open to influence on the PP could be one way they could rectify the criminally insane punishments they meted out to us on black Friday, and taking over the MC Hammer Park lease could be one way they could make up for the gross financial injustice. We have suffered enough humiliation and we need assistance in dragging ourselves out of the mire. The AFL have the power to help. I too hope that we get a truckload of special consideration, but don't see it happening under this administration. |

No chance we will get a priority pick unless they change the rules for everyone! |

I read that as him foreshadowing that they won't consider our request, which is fair enough IMO. |
