This has been building up for sometime, but I want to see some leadership from our captain.

Can anyone seriously imagine Stephen Kernahan providing so little inspiration? Can anyone imagine James Hird, Michael Voss or Nathan Buckley ducking the limelight and responsibility as much as Koutouofides does?

The last press statement I recall from #43 was the complaint about his pay-packet resurfacing as a subject again.

This season, we've had every other Carlton player fronting up for press conferences, but not our captain.

It took Stephen Kernahan to explain about pride in our guernsey; surely a job for our curent 'leader'.

The best we've had was a limp melee attempt against St Kilda when the game had already been ripped away from us. Feeble. Where was the fight when the game was there to be contested?

It's when times are tough that true character shows, and it's obvious our current captain is not up to the job.

Have the good grace to resign the captaincy.

Give it to Whitnall or Fevola: they're at least earning it at the moment.

With you 100% there JW, as sad as it makes me to say it.

Kouta is a great player, but not captaincy material.

The real heat should be on the board to change SOMETHING of significance to revitalise the entire football department.

Not disputing there are other problems Budzy, but this is an obvious one.

In a forum where they all appear to be trying to prove their worth, it may be that they're too focussed on their own spots to give a full regard to what is happening. Anways, didn't the Board approve the retention of all the Assistant Coaches only a fe wmonths ago?

the whole club is rooted up the wall

its hardly worth the effort singling out all the little problem. I think big changes will lead to an inevitable flow on effect, like Crawford moving on from the captaincy at Hawthorn..... change breeds change

The very first thing I would like to see is the captaincy given to Red. Anyone who has been to at least one game this year would know that he is the captain anyway. It's a small change but one that sends a message that pathetic moping and apathy will not be tolerated by the captain of CFC.

i agree he is forever directing traffic especially to the younger players. Admittly though for the first time in a long time that i can remember Kouta did fire up for a little while this week, but it took a fight to get him to that point. We need that kind of energy and passion each week from our captain. That wont fix all of the clubs woes, but it might actually set the tone and pace for the players.

Kouta isn't captaincy material and never was. He simply is not a leader so he finds it hard to show leadership. That's just the way he is and I don't think he's purposely not showing leadership it's just that he doesn't have leadership traits as part of his character so there's not much we can do about it.

Lance Whitnall should be made captain.

The only captain in the AFL that we will be looking for chinks in the oppositions armour to play him on.. cos if the opponent has any run.. he will take him to the cleaners...
ie Richo Croad Riewoldt..

Id rather have a Vandenberg and trade Lance and start again.. muffins in the oven and that kind of thing...

Amazing when the chips and the whole house is tumbling down, how we crap all over the captain.

Leave Kouta alone and lets focus on why the hell we have assistant coaches who are not the best or at least closely resmbling the best in the business?

Why on Earth is Libba the midfield coach? Why is Daniher the forward coach?

If Sticks is an inspiration put him on the field at the quarter time and 3 quarter time huddles and let him give the players a rev up.

I know that we are short of a penny but I think our assistant coaches can do with a change - flick Elshaug and co - I'd keep Barry Mitchell.

If we sack Pagan then Mitchell can be stand in coach at a cheap price and who knows, the players might respond to him better than they are to Pagan and our past players like Diesal and SOS may actually come back to the fold.

When you are captain and a very well paid player I expect him to deliver, Kouta hasnt been doing that and has earned the criticism .....I think we have to get away from Sticks making emotional pleas for players to try hard and get some players who can motivate themselves.. or better still find a coach/staff who can actually do the job we are paying them for....

Sticks inspriational speech last 1 game. If thats what a club legend and the jumper mean to the players then we need to look at other forms of motivation

Hey Elwood - why move away from Sticks? I am not asking him to play.

I only want him to assist more strongly on match day rather than sit in the coaches box like some omnipotent presence from a bygone era that has long left us behind.

Strangely enough I prefer that Kouta struggles because we won't miss him as much when he retires.

We will get back on our feet but it will take time and then GOD HELP ALL OPPOSITION SUPPORTERS!

That is about the weirdest logic (or lack of) I think I've ever read in here (and let's face it there's some serious competition).

I wish we hadn't won those 16 flags - then I wouldn't have such high expectations.

Miss him?

Worst captain ever.

DUC....Sticks is a good Blues man but I prefer him doing the PR stuff and not involved in the practical footy stuff anymore.
It only bandaids others failings...

I think you will get your way with Kouta...he is struggling... but should retire gracefully....he can take his money but give Smith or Jackson say the opportunity to develop on the senior list...i

You are talking to a Carlton supporter and when the Koutaman is not playing well, which explains the lack of logic, then void that he leaves will not be soooo large.
