Nixon, a Blues player in the 1980s, was tight-lipped yesterday, but said he had recently talked to representatives of a group that hoped to challenge the board.

The search is on for people that can run the footy club which will then open the door for "busy" people to get involved..

Didn't deny being intertested and could hardly say yes I have been approached and would definitely be interested.

Agreed ... love his work with the Storm.

PS F#$k off Nixon - we don't want player agents infiltrating our club board under any circumstance.

What kind of conflict of interest issues would Nixon have. Maybe he could negotiate Lance's next contract with.....himself!!!

The lack of unity in this footy club is killing us both on and off the field.

If there is no support for the current board, then they should honorably go. If they really are as savvy as their credentials claim them to be (some excepted of course - no. 5 being one of those), then this club should not be as poorly off as it is at the moment.

No one exudes leadership and lack of leadership at both business and football levels is killing us.

The sooner we have a decent leader as the captain of the club the better and the sooner we have a new board the better. The current recruiting staff cannot be judged as of yet - there's no point hiring Scott Clayton if you can't develop them - the recruiters watch for raw talent and potential but you still have to tap into that potential and develop it and this club is simply not doing that well enough with the incompetence of some of the coaching staff.

Pathetic.

my two cents worth

Some people's perception of what leadership is, unfortunately is not a reflection of success. If you were to spend some time reviewing some of the most successful companies of all time you will find there is NO PATTERN at all about the type of leader that has been successful. That is you do not need a a highly marketable leader to be successful - is simply is not true and there is no evidence to suggest otherwise. So I do not subscribe to the theory that because Smorgan's personality is not charismatic that Carlton can not succeed. If we succeed or fall further has everything to do with what he does!

it is the combination of people on the board that will lead to the success of Carlton - not personality types

Quite correct (read Jim Collins - Good to Great). But Collins also points out that the thing that the great leaders do have in common is a grass roots level understanding of the business they control, in addition to a psssion and intensity. Do we have all these things in to the level we need?

Ok to me .. leaders are meant to plot the road forward for others... and bring out the best in others going forward.

Where is it?
