The last 3 Victorian teams to share in September glory currently occupy the bottom 3 positions. These teams arguably operated on the today rather than keeping an eye firmly fixed on the future.

Will they be in the same positions by Rd 22 who knows. But what we do know is that they are now prepared to give youth a chance.

Thanks Rod - as Denis would say, 'you stole my thunder'.

Are these three teams giving youth a chance, or have absolutely no option (for various reasons).

Essendon* are no younger than we are week to week, and I would assume that the kangapoos are much older than us. Essendon* are going to pay like we did for poor recruiting and long term contracts, but they'll bounce faster because of the salary cap penalties we have had that they escaped  .

I really think the AFL has an opportunity to cash in on the teams that are certainties to finish at the bottom of the ladder .

When these teams play each other the loser should be presented with the Bryce Gibbs Cup (formal presentation at the end of the game). Considering Sheedy is involved with one of those teams I am suprised he has not come up with it himself. After all he pioneered Anzac Day, Dream Time a the "G" etc. etc.

I also think at the end of the home and away season after the last game the bottom team should be presented with a huge ticket that has "NUMBER 1 DRAFT PICK" on it. Surely we would all hang around for the presentation because it would be one of the few things we will get to cheer about this year
