Geeze, somebody from Carlton's rubbed his head the wrong way... ![]() ![]() ![]() 'He's a dumb footballer. He's undisciplined and doesn't work off the ball.' By ANDREW JARMAN 29may06 UNTIL Denis Pagan gets rid of the selfish players he has Carlton won't win many games. I hate blokes playing for themselves and I saw one on Saturday - Brendan Fevola.... http://www.theadvertiser.news.com.au/fo ... 44,00.html |

we know he's wrong on that score, Fev has worked bvery hard all year off the ball. I have no issue there. but this was interesting: Quote: The Blues took it up to Adelaide in the second quarter and created some momentum but the third term left me puzzled. Why did Pagan make unnecessary positional changes and take the momentum away from his own boys? and this Quote: And is there a Carlton player who can hit a target even 20 meters away? The skills were terrible and there's no excuse for elite footballers being so bad. I was taught if you can't kick you can't play, simple as that. So who's responsible for that at Carlton?

To single out Fev is a disgrace. But his points on kicking and turnovers are spot on. Though you wouldn't need to be einstein would you. |

This is Andrew Jarman, I assume, not Darren Jarman. |

No his brother Darren, Hawthorn/Adelaide was a better kick than Andrew but Andrew (who writes these articles) had the better hands, Remember the 'crow throw'. He was the reason as his hands were too quick for the umpires to see contact. Now Jars in reference to Fev is basing his judgement on one game in my opinion. Woof, he coaches North Adelaide in the SANFL and is doing very well. Carlton could do a lot worse than get him as he certainly would bring back passion to the players and the club. Simply the players love playing football for him because he makes it enjoyable, even when they were struggling at North he remained upbeat and the players were motivated to succeed. |

Funny that when Blight got rid of Jarman and Mcguinness, the Crows became a premiership team |

Why wouldn't Fevola be selfish The ball only comes into the forward fiftyabout 30 times a game in this side and most of the time he is double or even triple teamed . You see everytime Fevola gets a mark with in 60 metres he is not going to give it off why would he he is a full forward getting paid for kicking goals . There have been several occassions this year when someone has been in a better position closer to goal and Fevola doesn't even take a look over his shoulder . Is selfish Yes Can you blame him NO So it would be safe to say if Mr Jarmen was in the same position he would be selfish as well. PS I dont like the way he is holding the ball and he is getting to close to the man on the mark this year |

I'd suggest the thing that brought undone a lot of Fev's work on the weekend was not being selfish enough. How many times did he try to pass it off and stuff it up - right intentions, bring the others into the game, find the best option, but I think fev is better working from instinct than trying to think things through. as for Jarman he'd rate as one of the most selfish players i have ever seen. |

Just love journos who watch one game and on that basis draw conclusions. That was Fev's only poor game of the season. ![]() |

A colleague in Adelaide told me it was "reported" on 5AA last week that Stephen Kernahan was seen having lunch with Andrew Jarman 40kms out of Adelaide. The inference was the lunch was about the possibility of Jarman taking on an assistant coaching role with a view to take over the senior mantle. I have no idea as to the credibility of this, but seeing as Jarman has come up, I thought I'd mention it |

What does he actually point out as examples of his so called 'laziness'? He accuses him of it but doesn't explain anything. What a goose! His other points are spot on and the call on 5AA repeatedly pointed out the shocking skill level of our players. And they are spot on there. |

Pick an easy target and fire away. How would Gehrig or Richo go in our "system". Fev is doing very well considering. Agree with most of the comments about our setup for the game and what we are doing but as for Fev its just picking our highest profile player and firing away at an easy target. If you want lazy try Mark Williams from Hawthorn. |
