Clearly would have been the man to take Mark Johnson. Any ideas why he was dropped? We have a 7 week old baby so I haven't watched too many of the games. Got a leave pass to go tonight. - TwinOne |

- TwinOne Mark Johnson really worked Lappin over physically and hye struggled big time. He still did some damage himself (Lappin) but nowhere near as much as usual. Bannister might have made a difference. I thought Whitnall on Hird was a beauty, and Lance killed him. James took a beautiful mark in the last quarter but Lance took 3!! |

I thought hew should ahve played, he was POX last week, but he always plays good against the Bombers. But you have to earn your spot. |

Too many taggers against North last week, so someone had to be omitted. Much happier going with another free running option and trying to beat an opposition rather than tagging three or four players all night. |

Mind you for all the game time Simpson got they may have well kept Bannister. I thought Wiggo was pretty good. Was it Carazzo that took MacPhee out of the game in the last quarter? |

Not a massive fan of Wiggo, as he generally makes some clangers, but in the first minute of the last quarter, he set the tone by running back with the flight for a gutsy gutsy mark. Hopefully more to come. Ah, what a sweet win. |

Bannister is a good developing player, but he was disappointing last week, and so deserved to miss out. Even if our match ups weren't great tonight (couldn't for the life of me work out why Norman wasn't on Lucas from the start), I like that our middle-rung players really have to perform if they want to stay in the side. I'd expect Sporn and Simpson (both good long-term prospects) to take their turn at the 'rotational' policy. And the only thing saving Digby at the moment, is that he's key position size. |

Ah, what a sweet win. My thoughts exactly. The first 3 quarters had me thinking Wiggins should be given the arse. But when he took that mark maybe only Lappin and Teague would take, he should definitely be given more opportunities. It may have upset team balance but he should have been moved on to M.Johnson and Norman should have started on Lucas. Massie killed Lucas in another great win over the bombers and Norman was a perfect match. Played all right and perfected a great spoil directly to his teammate when he came on. If Norman can grab Tbird's spot it will only improve our side through competition for a place and add depth in talls. A The cynic in me also believes it will be improve his market value if he can show something. ![]() |

Bannister or Walker in - Carrazzo out (i cant believe this kid is in our side) |

Carrazzo is not going to be dropped from the side anytime soon. He struggles with his disposal at times, but is a smart player who can shut down his forward opponent pretty well and still win the ball and provide some offensive run as well. Walks is a better skilled player, but still probably turns it over as much anyway at the moment. Bannister didn't do enough last week. Of course if they both burn up in the VFL this week, then they'd be in with a chance. But I'm assuming the most likely inclusions next week would be Livo and Chambers (injuries permitting). |

Carrazzo is a brilliant player but a bloody awful kick. His kicking is really a liability, but his strengths are huge gains for us. I'm not sure what to do about that. Perhaps we should get him running with someone, around the stoppages, to get handballs or quick kicks he doesn't need to think too much about. Carrazzo will become our most frustrating player, if he isn't already. As a footy brain/quick hands/good mover he's excellent. But his kicking/kicking decions are REALLY REALLY subpar. Pagan's got to work out a way of having him in the team without having his kicks cost us too much. I dont think Bannister would have made a difference, and for team balance I'm kinda glad he's not in the team. Pagan punted with Lappin on Mark Johnson.... it was a brilliant contest that nearly decided the game on its own. Johnson probably took the points, but Lappin was also productive in patches. Don't worry guys. Denis punted, and the Team won, even though Mark Johnson was probably their best player. What we don't need is to be reactive and become more defensive. I think Wiggo provides more for the side than Bannister, because he's more versatile... and Wiggo and Bannister are kinda fighting for that 22nd spot. Its all good guys! |

One player who would have been a good matchup on Mark Johnson is Glen Bowyer..... |

Jordy is the only guy on our list to actually LOSE wieght.A lean mean running machine.Super fit.For all that,he is not getting touches and having goals kicked on him to make it worse.Hes competing with the Wiggos and Prendas of the world for his spot. They are all honest and willing, but you can only have so many workhorses in your side at the one time.Reckon its gonna come down to matchups and form at the time on who gets the selectors nod. |
