![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I really cant work this out. The below is a report re the difference in last years 2005 membership compared to the present 2006. When we are most in need, why are you deserting us !!!!!!!!!! I dont care how bad we are travelling, I will always declare my undying support for the Blues. As much as I enjoy reading the posts in this site, I believe that most of the posters just want to bag the players and coaching staff. Go back to school kiddies ( who I believe that the usual baggers come from), if you really want to support the club, make sure your membership is paid up !!! It is an absolute discgrace that we are 6th in line. I understand there will always be rivalry re membership between us, the Pies and Bombers, but how in the hell can the Cats, Saints and Tigers be above us. Rectiy this !!!. QUOTE: CLUB 2006 2005 Collingwood 37,500 38,612 DOWN 1112 Essendon* 35,192 32,734 UP 2458 Geelong 32,102 30,821 UP 1281 St Kilda 31,830 32,043 DOWN 213 Richmond 29,060 28,029 UP 1031 Carlton 28,500 33,354 DOWN 4854 Hawthorn 27,337 29,261 DOWN 1924 Bulldogs 25,370 21,974 UP 3396 Melbourne 23,300 24,805 DOWN 1505 Kangaroos 22,854 24,154 DOWN 1300 Lets get the Blues up near the top again !!! |

Yeh well we all know why our membership is down, which is sad because Carlton have given us so much in the past and it only took a few years donw the bottom to make fans forget that. But it's the same with every team in the AFL, thats wat happens when you are down for a while, then watch all the bandwagon supporters jump on board when the team starts to perform. |

No surprises really in regard to numbers or membership ladder position. Geelong fans need to be members virtually to get into games, Saints have been flag favourites for 3 years, and we're coming off our worst period in history. |

"they were handing them out at lunchtime" Did you burn it? And you might look at washing your brothers hands with some sort of industrial strength antiseptic soap. ![]() |

We didn't renew this year for one reason only - too many Sunday games which we just can't get to. The Club has said Sunday games have been a problem in membership renewals this year. |

sunday games? saturday games? friday games? a membership to keep our institution alive is well worth it regardless of how accessible games are. ![]() it pains me to think i have been to one game in 4 years because games are on the other side of the planet. nonetheless a membership is much more than getting to a game. |

The membership is pretty good considering we've been woeful for 4 years in my view. I think the fans have come to the party and i wish Smorgon would stop labouring the point. What we need is some hope, and the lesser-manic fans will come back. At the moment there isn't much. I wonder how many memberships that 90 point loss to Port in the pre-season cost us? We need to sell ourselves more, get out & about. Promote the kids, all that sort of stuff. The PP announcement will be very good, and I'm assured there's more good news to come. But until the hope becomes more apparent I'd suggest we should get used to sub 30,000 membership levels. |

We've been woeful for a long time - our m'sip figures aren't too bad when you consider we are the second worst performing team (home and away games) just behind Fremantle since 1997 (THE ONLY REAL MEASUURE OF ALL THE CURRENT TEAMS!!!). |

When a family membership costs $750 you think about it and if you are not going to get value by going to the games you don't re-join. Bring back Saturday games! |

Yep, if the Essendon* fans had known how badly they'd go this year, do you think they would have had an increase in membership? They brought in Campo and Heffernan, giving the appearance of mounting a premiership campaign. The fans fell for it. To an extent, this was due to injuries, so it wasn't just a case of the fans being conned. In our situation, there was no real prospect of a finals berth. Our membership figures in 2005 were pumped up by our better-than-expected 2004 results, and the WizCup Premiership. Obviously, that optimism disappeared quickly, and the Port practice match debacle ensured that it was replaced by pessimism. Not a bad result in those circumstances. |

That's fair enough BlueRo. But you don't have to spend $750 on a family membership. ![]() |

I've got two memberships!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() Sorry, just so proud of myself for doing this that i thought i would let everybody know about it! LOL! Hopefully the board is looking at this closley to see WHY members haven't signed up. It's one thing to cry about it............but the board really needs to start asking questions. Membership should well be about supporting the club, regardless of where we are on the ladder or whatever...............but unfortunatly i think the amount of members we've got (or haven't got for that matter) is saying something to the club. I know of a lot of people out there who are not happy withe the way the club is being run as well as a few other things. Weather i aggree with them or not is beside the point. What really matters by not re-signing..............they are sending a message to the club that they aren't happy! They are having their say. Personally - i believe the club is listening. Hopefully, come seasons end,............ :- we get some good quality kids in the draft :- we've played more kids such as Bower, Kennedy, Russell & Hartlett giving the fans a taste of the future :- Disgruntled fans who are upset about leaving PP will come back after seeing the new plans for our home renovations The members will come back. I have faith. |

There is a level at which Melbourne-based membership has to logically plateau, and it would appear that 29-32000 members is about it for Carlton. What's being done to try and increase interstate memberships, and tap into massive support across Australia? See this thread for why membership across the country is stagnating |

See this thread for why membership across the country is stagnating I don't agree with those figures. 32k was achieved at a time we are shit. Like Collingwood and Essendon* when we begin to play finals again we will smash that level when all the bandwagon jump on. |
