All those who have harboured unrealistic dreams of Fitzy taking over as President of our Club might note yesterdays appointment as a non-executive Director of Rio.

This prestiguous Directorship is sure to be a forerunner of more blue-chip posts.

This to me further suggests that any expectation of him in our top job is wishful thinking.

Surely you can be a president of a club and hold other directorships; being boss of Channel 9 hasnt meant that Eddie has had to quit as Collingwood president

His plate is filling fast. Time would be an issue.

Don't expect that to continue for much longer. The fact that he has moved to Sydney plus the pressure of the role (Nine boss) will eventually mean that something has to give.

As for Fitzpatrick,we are talking about a role in one of the largest Resources Company in the world.A Company that has more than half of its Board off-shore.Equally the sheer prestige of the position will see more offers.

Forget Mike,he has other things on his plate for a number of years unfortunately.

Actually 7dom, i don't think sitting on a board of directors is particulalry onerous. You get paid a fee, turn up for a boozy lunchtime meeting every once in a while, and tell the CEO to sack a few people. I reckon he could serve on half a dozen boards and still have plenty of time for CFC. Eddie McEgo is CEO which is a long hours job. Board of Directors are cosy part part time positions to keep old duffers out of trouble when they are approaching retirement. (This may not be totally accurate, I'm basing my opinion on being a small, small shareholder in AMP when their board met about ten times a year, got $80k a year (for about 40 hours a year work) and managed to oversee a billion dollar loss without effecting their positions- a trained monkey could do better.)

If Fitzy can be a director of Rio, he can be a director of CFC.

Private fella aint he? I mean you rarely see him interviewed about the Blue Baggers. I wouldn't know what he sounds like interviewed. I;m sure he'll coem back to the club one day, but it won't be for a while. After world domination probably. :-D

Rather than spout what I know about Mike, I'd like to direct those who have access to the CFC Corporate Newsletter to flick through and see if they can spot a photo that may indicate the amount of time Mike (and those close to Mike) has (have) for the CFC.

And no the photo was not taken at the corporate lunch.

I actually spotted him at the game versus Port on Sunday.

He must love the club if he could sit through that crap.
