Brett Ratten was interviewd on SEN this morning. Asked if he'd like some involvement at the Blues, he commented he'd stick his hand up at any time for a role at the club, and would love to be back there. He also didn't say it outright, but you got the feeling from some of his other comments, that Pagan put some noses out of place with the senior players at the time - i.e. Bradley, Hickmott, McKay and himself - instigating some resignations. So what role for Ratten? |

Dunno how he could have put Bradleys nose out of place. Pagan had to make a call on a guy that would train away from the club till he got what he wanted and was 38. Enough is enough... If it were up to Bradley he would still be playing for us... aged 42. |

I'm not answering for Synbad....he doesn't need me for that  , but my take on them is that Pagan told a few of them some home truths about their futures with the Club, the sort of matter-of-factness that people are demanding he now use with a few regularly mentioned players, and that's what spurred it or them.

I thik Ratts would make a good coach for the midfield/HB/HF, in terms of tactics, reading the play etc. The things that take some people many many matches to acquire. If he could impart some of the vision he had (especially after the laser eye surgery) to some of the young midfielders, then it would be a great bonus. |

You brought it up - "instigating resignations" and these events in our recent history have been swept under the table. My take is that Ratts and Hicky objected to his severely outdated game plan and his overall coaching methods and were sacked in very poor fashion. Time has proved them to be right. As for Ratts coming back - good. He's a great clubman with a good footy brain. But when looking for coaches, I hope we do it professionally like any well run company would - calling for applicants, extensive interviews, etc. Not just appointing someone because he used to play for the club or to save the presidents arse. I'd rather Ratts get a job elsewhere, it would be better for him and better for us if he ever returns. Billy I'll admitt when I'm wrong, don't worry about that but it'll take more than three ok games. In 2 years time he won't be playing AFL football. |

I'd give him Assistant Coach & Match Day Coach......Similar to what we did with Brittan when PArkin was coming to an end. Assistant coach / then match day coach. Pagan is hired by the CFC.................if he doesn't like that, then he is more than welcome to quit! |

Given the recent history between Ratts and Pagan, alleged or not, I reckon it shows great character by Ratts that he would like to come back. As for affording another assistant coach, who says we have to afford another one.
Ratten displayed all of the guts and determination we hoped Libba would rub off on to our list, and Ratten also had skills, you know, proper football skills. He also struggled a bit as a young kid before becoming one of the league's best midfielders, no matter how underrated he was. He knows all about making it good after a tough start in the game. A proactive Denis Pagan would be making enquiries about someone like Ratten joing his stable. |

Whilst I'd love to see Ratts looking after our midfielders, I'd also love to see a full-on skills tecnical coach. The disposal tecnique of some of our players is shocking. Look at some of our blokes kicking styles compared to Akermanis or Buckley. Under pressure, tecnique counts for a lot. |
