Although we lost when we probably should have won, our boys did us proud today with some of the best footy by any team all year. Murphy is a star, Fevola was awesome, Lance again brilliant and countless others nearly held on against the best team in the league on their home ground. Our boys faught as hard as they could and we just wern't good enough.

Well done boys for proving were no push over, we had them shiting their pants and if not for some of their brilliant midfielders we may have held on, but i am proud to barrack for Carlton if we play like that.

Be Dissapointed, but be proud aswell.

Gee our guys played well today. As I_S said, we gave the Eagles a massive fright. And while we can get beat up about the fact we suffered a heart breaking loss, we have to praise the good things to come out of this game, even if just to maintain sanity.

Murphy was great, he has such composure and even when he makes a rare fumble he has time and poise to clean up and force an effective disposal.

Lance read the play so well and mopped up in defence with plenty of skill, some of his field kicking today was spot on.

Thornton too is regaining his confidence in defence and has refound that ability to remain calm in a crisis.

Overall though our guys are to be comendended for their courage, effort and determination. We gave our best today, and we can never ask for anymore than that.

Thank you Carlton, today you made me proud.

Yeh it definitely feels like that, we would have had the competition in all sorts if we held on, what would the headline have been Blues beat Eagles or Eagles lost to Blues, i wouldnt have cared really but it gives us some confidence going into the upcoming games showing we can match it and even beat the best.

We won 3 of 4 quarters and lost, good teams do that. Like the 99 prelim, we had total control in pretty much 3 of the 4 quarters and won by 1 point.

Hopefully a watershed for the club. Let's hope that we'll be able to look back at this game and remember the day when the boys started believing in their ability, the day that Stevo starred as a tagger, the day that Houla KOd someone, the day when Murph stamped his name on the NRS.

Gutted, but proud as all hell.

Enjoy the week off guys. Then it's time to cull some Roos!!

we should have won, some of the decisions in the last quarter where harch in either us not getting a free kick or them getting one, but alas, enough of that, we where good today, real good.

all i hope from this game is that pagan realises that we are a better side when we play an attacking game like we did today than when we try and defend.

eagles doubled thier score in a quarter to win the game - that shouldnt happen, but im happy that kids like JR, JK and Co got some serious game time and also had some impact on the game.

stevo had his best game for along time
murphy is just class
betts, like steveo had his best game for along time

alot of positives out of this game

there were the chances at the end, murphy breaking from 50 and kicking a point, cox getting the taps for cousins, kerr and braun to break away, embley, hunted, wirrpunda nail the scores that were in the third quarter were behinds,

our positive was that the players, the young ones especially, were gallant beyond belief for a majority of the game, and for the odds they were against, we should all be very, very proud..

-two years and counting,

Was a good match just the result was dissapointing but there where lots of Positives and hopefully the Blues wont drop there heads and take something out of this.

Positives
Murphy - was great to day had 3 -4 opponents and for a kid in his first year to demand so much attention and stand up all game is a fantastic effort.

Russell - Saw him earlier and he lacked any confidence but this time he definately felt more comfortable did some nice things and hope they pursist with him for the rest of the year.

Stevo - Stepped up today kept on Kerr and played a good game.

Betts - Also provided some grunt in the first half in the forward line he will improve as he becomes more consistant was a great dual with Wirra.

FEv - Great first 3 quarters but lacked oppertunuity in the last quarter when we ran out of puff in the midfield

Whits - Great across half back repelled heaps of forward forays by the Eagles great reading of the play

There where other contributions and of course still areas where we let each other down but there was a loss less than in some of the previous games.

But if we play like we did them i will be happy as we will only improve and i do believe next year alot of this hard work will pay off.

Well done guys dissapointed with the result but happy with the effort

While I am shattered that we lost having been in such a winning position, as many of you have already said, there a plenty of positives to take out of today. Murphy, Walker, JK, JR, Simmo, Betts getting a run & more game time for JK & JR was encouraging.

Stevo played a much better game.

Fev - looked like he was running at half pace today but had a top game.

An attacking game plan!! Finally!!

We just ran out of legs in the end. As DP said in his press conference, they've had more pre seasons than us which enabled them to hang on. But plenty of positives to come out of this game.
