Post subject:  Jordan Russell - SuperMop

Russell deserves a mention for his effort yesterday. I was really happy with his game and believe he was an instrumental factor in nearly getting the Blues over the line in what would have been an upset and a half.

9 kicks 2 handballs 8 marks.

He wanted the ball from the moment he was given an opportunity. He's a fantastic kick. Given all the horrors and turnovers Carlton are infamous for at present it was so goog to see a player in navy blue with poise and finish. 8 marks isn't shabby either.

Jordan also has a good defensive side to his style, hassling a number of eagles in one on one contests.

Just the love the number 2. All the best for your future at the Blues Jordan...

Great to see him in the team, plaing well. Most importantly he earnt his spot and played as if he wants to keep it. As mentioned above, we need skillfull talented players in our team who can hit a target.

Great signs from JR yesterday .... but he needs more bulk. Daniella Chick bumped him off the ball quite easily in yesterdays game that resulted in a goal. Not JR's fault, just a light frame.

He's listed at 77kg, and 188cm .... another 8kg's of muscle woldn't do any harm. One or two more pre-seasons will do the lad a world of good.

I like the boy!!!!!

took a couple of great marks under pressure - one on the wing with three WC players closing in on him - didn't panic and looked very assured.

He also backed himself a few times and ran at opponents. In his previous outings he just seemed to want to get rid of the ball as soon as he got it - Might have that touch of measured arrogance that we need.

Would hope the match committee have assured him that he will be in the team for the next 4-5 weeks gauranteed.

Did anyone else see his chase on the wing?

I've always thought he just motors along but that had to be the first time i have seen him sprint and boy is he quick! Was very impressed with him yesterday, will make a great winger IMO

Keep it up JR :!:

One of my favourite young players at Carlton. Has pace, height, poise and good disposal.

He's a good young kid.

He plays footy for the love of the game. He also told me that he wants to have a long and distinguished career with the blues and be a one club player. 8) Just shows the character of the guy.

i thought he looked a little nervous (compared to his compsure in the VFL) at first, which is understandable given the games intesity.

But the way he composed himself shows a sign of a player maturing. That for me was one of the most exciting things of the day.
Still just a kid, and with every right to be nervous, he just reminded himself that he is out on that field for a reason, and he didn't look back from there!

11 possesions may not seem like alot...............but for somebody who was only on the field for less that half the match, that's impressive!

Bernard Hopkins fights at 72.5 kg... Do you think Chick could knock him over?

Without wanting to sound like a killjoy, let's see how he backs up this effort in the next few weeks (here's hoping they give him some air time).

Must say did like the way he moved and, if anything, does look good in a Carlton jumper with the mop.

8 kilos?

Yes let's beef up all the runners, that'll do the world of good long term.

Take a good long hard look at the Lions and their injury list.
