Fev performance after looking like he'd miss a few games
Murphy highest possession winner for either side
Carrazzo proving he can deliver in the middle
Simpson providing run

A ripping 3rd quarter where we kicked 8 goals showing glimpses of what lies ahead in the future.

Lappin returning to form and hitting his low skidding passes perfectly once again.

Every young player doing what was required of them and showing something.

Murph - this kid is @#$%&! brilliant - I mean @#$%&! Judd brilliant! He just is.

Tex - Grant was killing us, kicked 1 on Tex and then the young gun took him so far out of the game Grant needed a dressing gown to stay warm.

Carrots - midfield, midfield,midfield.

Blackers - ran out of puff I reckon after half time - copped a few heavy wacks but great game kid!

De Luca - well it was good and if he had have kicked that shot in the last....who knows?

Fev.... jesus did he have a bet on for mark of the year or what? And almost, almost got goal of the year!

probably delucas best game for the blues (even though the patch was only a quarter and a 1/2). I'd say bannisters best overall game as wel

performances of Fev (coming back on), betts, murphy, simpson, blackwell, scotland, carazzo. Also probably lappins best game in a while

I thought there were a heap of positives tonight.

Probably the biggest positive was the real responsibility given to younger players throughout the night, even if it probably cost us in the end. Also enjoyed the attacking game plan, and score of over 100.

Fevola was great. Deluca was very good. Murphy, Carrots, Simpson in the midfield. Blackwell showed some real class tonight in patches.

Nice to see Bannister start to demonstrate a little of his VFL form and confidence at senior level.

Was kind of hoping we'd play well, and still lose, as I think we still need extra early picks. So not only should we get pretty choice out of Hansen/Gibbs/Gumbleton/Sellars, but we should pick up an extra midfield runner we might not have gotten if we'd won tonight.

Teague and McGrath were poor tonight, which is kind of another positive. Better to see your older (replaceable) players struggling and your young talent beginning to shine than the other way round.

Positives? Me and 20 other supporters - mainly from TC - actually - only from TC - and led by Synbad - saw the Blues lose! YAY!!! The other 100,000 supporters were upset but @#$%&! them - what do they know? PLAN FOR THE FUTURE!!! Who wants to experience a win? Winning's for losers!!!

Yes, I'm being facetious

Murphy
Walker
De Luca
Fevola - I've never considered the possibility of him being injured
Lappin
Blackwell
Bannister
French
Some other people

And may I be the first to suggest that a positive is that Denis cunningly disguised his tank midway through the fourth quarter by telling the blues to chip the ball around when they should have been running (courtesy of Gary Lyon)

TANK TANK TANK

Who cares about winning? Only losers want to win!!!

I'm very pleased about what the future holds for the Blues. All our young guys were great tonight.

Murphy is amazing, love Simmo, and I love the in and under work of Blackers and AB. Carrots deserves a spot in the midfield and Walks sets my heart aflutter when he sprints down the wing.

Then there's Fish, Waitey, Kennedy etc to still come back into the side. Plus the untried talent running around in the twos.

The result tonight means nothing, we have a lot to look forward to!

Archie taking marks was amazing. Good pack marks as well.

Carrazzo makes a difference up at half forward.

JR improving each outing along with Blackers.

Murphy absolute class so is Simmo and Walker.

French had his best rucking game for a long time, even if Hale never watched the ball.

I'm happy with Pagan currently, he is playing the kids with good game time, and we are more attacking. Sellar, Gumbleton, Leunberger or Hansen are ours for the taking now, maybe even Gibbs if we are unlucky.

One of clients told me today that his dad sat next to Kevin Sheedy on a plane recently. Sheedy told him he rates Carltons kids highly and thinks we are travelling down the right track now giving them more game time.

And may I say that it was fantastic to see a midfield at the centre bounce consisting of the likes of Blackwell, Russell, Murphy, Lappin & Stevens. Apart from Matthew - a young, future midfield

I have and its not a pretty thought - hence my preparedness to trade him. Having said that though, I was spitting chips when I saw him land - thought he had done his ACL for certain. Good to see him running later in the game but I certainly would have kept him off the ground.

Fair point, 4th

On Fevola though - that's the highest I've seen him climb for a mark - not once but several times!

He is playing like the pre-eminent forward in the comp - apart form N Thompson

Why trade Fev when you can trade Murphy?
Murphy is just as likely to be injured as Fev.

Look... the one man to be traded is Lance.

Just not mobile...

I reckon the kids were great again today.
We have a real nucleus to build upon...

Im rapt with that!!!

PS Im almost to the point that im not joking here but Fev is just about captaincy material in our side.

Also Deluca - credit to him.. he looked like a real CHF tonight.

The negative is when Livo is dropped the balance suffers.

Livingston on Thompson, Synbad? Certainly Thornton had no answers. Or are you referring to having a spine without actually suggesting match ups?

synbad - why fev and not murphy? - mainly positional. I'd cop a weaker forward line if it meant we could build up the rest of the team quicker (midfield/back/ruck). If we get caned in the midfield then having the best FF in the comp (where I place fev atm) is useless to us.

why fev and not lance? - trade value. I'm pretty sure you have asked me a dozen times before and I've given the same answer everytime.

Its a thread for positives - lets at least try to keep it on topic. My comments werent a criticism of Fev - I was extremely concerned when he landed and very happy when it appeared he was ok. I just wouldnt have brought him back on.

Fev showed tonight he has really come of age. Super impressive effort.
Agree, all the kids did well and for once actually all got good ground time, and Stevens was given some rest which is about time. Murphy close to BOG.

Good effort from DeLuca.

btw, who said Carrazzo cannot kick for goal?
