This one is for GWS who asked how good Carlton's youngsters (under 22 years of age) are compared to the other teams in the league. Below is a list of each team's players aged under 22. I don't see enough footy to be able to make too much of a comment on the relative merits of Carlton's youngsters compared to those of other teams. Would be interested in others thoughts on this. How do the Blues youngsters compare? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

How old's Cooney, Jar? Would have thought he'd sneak in I haven't heard of three quarters of those players so I'll just pick a number as per usual 7 |

Actually, I'm going to change my bet. I'll go for Brisbane - mainly because so many of them have been played. |

We certainly have some of the youngest - Bower, Murphy, Kennedy & Flint, for examples. Considering what these guys were doing, I am pleased with our youngsters. Brissie have a good group - most of them have played senior footy and most of those have shown something. |

Personally I reckon the doggies have the best talent on the park under 22 years of age, but Richmond have also done well in the number of youngsters they've played. Actually I'd like to reassess. Essendon*, on the basis of one man, have the best youngsters. And we all know who he is. |

Freo have a good group- Johnson, Mundy, Schammer, Duffield, and Murphy have all made their mark in the AFL and Drum is another one who has a lot of potential. |

Pretty good list considering what we lost on Black Friday and the fact we 've traded for and drafted experienced players with late picks. Brock Mclean and Raines should be included and I think both Melbourne's and Richmond's young players are under-rated. Kangaroos are scheissenhausen! ![]() |

I would say, based on the fact I am a Carlton supporter, yes. |

Our's stack up really well although many of the other clubs youngsters are yet to play so it's maybe a little hard to tell. Our youngsters are aren't bad at all though. We should not be on the bottom, or near it with 2 wins, half a game less than this time last year. |

why shouldn't we Jim? Check the Vets on other lists compared to ours. Compare the 22 to 28 range blokes on other lists compared to ours. |

Yes, we're a quality outfit with a great backline, a great midfield and we haven't missed any senior players through injury or bad performances. ![]() I knew you'd throw a cliche about our list being better than it is or include a jab at Pagan in your post because it's the only thing you ever say. |

Port, Tigers, Hawks, Blues and Dockers. I'm hoping one or two from other clubs in Meeson or Dunn will be with us next year. |

Every club has good youngsters . There are posters on this site who think we are the only club bringing young players through and yet last year we only had 4 players make their debut - Betts - been good - Bryan - dissappeared - Russel 5 minutes last year is starting to get more of a go- Ohalphin - think we will be waiting a while. We have got one gun and one gun only at the moment in Murphy the rest including Waite and Fisher are patchy. We have a chance to promote a rookie but seem to have chosen not to so it begs the question on the quality of our rookies . Port - Brisbane - Hawks - Tigers- Doggies - Collingwood - and even Essendon* seem to ahead of us when it comes to blooding and development of youngsters and I have yet to see any of ours other than Murph play consistant footy for any lenght of time. Take your Navy Blue glasses off and have another look at those list from other clubs we are behind the eight ball - Collingwood had 5 teenagers in their side tonight and ran over the Swans The Swans have 18 players in their list who haven't even registered a game yet Also where is Monfries on the Essendon* list |

Walker and Simpson are very good young kids with Betts showing alot in a position where it's either a feast or a famine in a struggling side. Quote: We have a chance to promote a rookie but seem to have chosen not to so it begs the question on the quality of our rookies . Or they're not ready to play in their position at senior level? Russell hasn't played as well at senior level as he did against Tassie and someone stated that he wouldn't have the same influence at senior level as he does in the VFL. ![]() Is Trent Sporn an AFL player? Quote: Port - Brisbane - Hawks - Tigers- Doggies - Collingwood - and even Essendon* seem to ahead of us when it comes to blooding and development of youngsters and I have yet to see any of ours other than Murph play consistant footy for any lenght of time. The same Essendon* that played Reynolds on Fevola, dropped Winderlich to the reserves where he killed it, was playing Ryder when he wasn't ready and gives Dyson 5 minutes off the bench to get 20 possessions? ![]() Quote: Take your Navy Blue glasses off and have another look at those list from other clubs we are behind the eight ball - Collingwood had 5 teenagers in their side tonight and ran over the Swans We had close to 5 if you include Walker and they nearly over-ran the WCE at home! ![]() Quote: The Swans have 18 players in their list who haven't even registered a game yet.
Had you even heard of their names before you bothered to look at the Swans list? Is it harder for a kid to break into a premiership team or a struggling side like Carlton? The Swans have nine players on their rookie list which accounts for half of the 18 who haven't played a game. ![]() |

Lets not forget that Colligwood has the nucleus of the side that took them to two grand finals. I'd give them Thomas, Pendlebury, Harry and Shaw as any good at this stage. Rusling is the Courtney Johns of the Lexus Centre and Cloke close behind. |

..goin' by yer list there, i would have to say that the Dee's have got the best youngin's.. ..players like McClean and Rivers are stand-out players that simply can't be overlooked.. ..it's a real kick in the guts that Brock ought to have gone to us.. ..cos he is exactly the player our midfield needs.. ..the Blues have a few good players coming through, most notably Murphy.. ..it's great that we have him, the land's numero uno.. ..but hell, for him to be our best, most consistent midfielder so far for the year is a real indication of how bad we are travelling.. ..sure, Murphy is a great talent having a good year, but the first draft pick to be yer best player does make yer shed a tear, fer all the wrong reasons.. |
