Quote: Pagan disappointed with leaders 12:07:08 PM Sun 25 June, 2006 Ben Wise Sportal for afl.com.au Carlton coach Denis Pagan has raised questions about the leadership of the Blues after Friday's last-quarter fadeout against the Kangaroos according to Blues utility Matthew Lappin. Does it have to be the players fault EVERY WEEK?????? I mean, sure - they have to take responsibilty but blaming them week-in week-out...........................how is that gonna help? It's the same story every week really. If we win, it's "Well done Denis". If we loose it's "all the players fault". Getting a bit sick of this crap. |

Where was Skinny and Whitts in the last quarter. As for being sick of this crap, same could be said for the anit pagan trolls after every loss. Broad and unfouded genrealisations like the players get blamed EVERY WEEK is just crap. Pagan was full of praise for the players after the WCE game. |

Oh that's right..................i forgot we're not aloud to criticise Pagan. He's off-limits. We can dish out crap to the players all we want, but don't dare ask Pagan to accept some of the responsibilty. We're all quick to dish it out to Kouta for not delivering for $1million dollars a year but the second we do the same to Pagan and he's equally expensive Pay Packet it's all........."oh no! Pagan is Pagan, it can't be his fault." I'm not a troll.................after the West Coast game i was the first person to post my congratulations on Denis's tatics and approach to that game. But all i'm saying is that i am seriosuly sick to shit of the players copping all the crap and most of it is being dished out by the club and it's coaching staff. Dennis & Libba have some serious problems and i think it's about time they started to admit that. Admittadly,.......................i have noticed a change in out game plan in the past two weeks as we have flooded ALOT less and have played more attacking style, especially throught the corridor too..............so that's a start. |

It HAS made for a much more entertaining game hasn't it! And we've been way more competitive too. I think we have flooded maybe twice in the past two games, as compared to flooding 5 or 6 times a quater in previous times. IMHO, friday night was one of the best games of the year for both sides. |

Pagan is part problem. the players are the rest. for the most part they're just not good enough. |

the articles I read, Pagan was at pains to not blame the players, talked about process bla bla bla... I would think that any time Pagan even marginally goes away from the script is reported. By the way - the senior players did go missing didn't they? |

What happened Friday night was mostly the responsibility of the players. Senior players went missing. Playing "not to lose" as opposed to playing to win Things like that. I fail to see how the coach could ring those changes and cause such a sudden change in the on-field persona. I'm not saying there weren't coaching and interchange errors made, but Friday was more in the lap of inexperienced players than the coach, for mine. |

Why couldn't the coach send the runner out and go around to the backline and midfield to keep attacking? Why couldn't Pagan have foreseen it might happen because it happened the week before and told them to keep attacking? Weak excuses from Pagan. For 3 quarters there was apparently good leadership and for the last there wasn't. |

We ran out of legs. Not the coaches fault or the senior players' fault. Stevens, Scotland and Lappin ran their guts out, so did Murphy and Simpson. We need more midfielders to rotate through there. |

It wasn't the running out of legs that was the problem, as far as I could see it, it was the decision-making, and the change from a playing-to-win to a playing-not-to-lose style, and that ultimately cost us momentum, and the match. |

I reckon that is exactly the reason why we lost. |

In the last Q, Lappin had 8 possessions, Stevens 6, Whitnall 3. Mostly the younger, inexperienced players that went out of the game. |

Maybe the fact that we ran out of legs caused the change to the game plan & decision making. Without enough gas left to be the link man or run to space meant that game plan used to get into a winning position could no longer be employed, therefore causing a more stop start flow on effect & ultimately meaning an adjustment to the decision making to accommodate? Another pre seaon should do it ![]() |
