I still think that game in 92 was his finest moment as a Carlton player. Lockett had kicked 6 goals on a young Michael Sexton to half-time and Parkin moved Dorotich to full back at the main break. He held Lockett goal-less in the second half as Luke O'Sullivan played a blinder, Sticks kicked the memorable handball to himself - checkside goal from the boundary line and Carlton prevailed by a kick in front of a packed PP crowd.

My endearing memory will be of him scuffing an easy shot for goal at Waverley circs 91 or 92 - the opposition rebounded and scored a goal thus giving them victory. Could have been Richmond I think.

I reckon we lost that game by 3 points and it was definitely richmond.

So this was dorra's fault?

I think it was Dorotich who from a kick in, changed his mind mid way through, fell on the ground, got tackled and then just threw the ball for a rushed behind like he was a gridiron player.

It would have been funny if it had of happened to a non-Carlton player.

Dorotich now calls WAFL games for the ABC and occasionally assaults cyclists.

Dont let the kick in marr the fact he was a damn good defender and had some ripper contests with Dermie in the late 80's. Held up CHB for us against some very capable CHF's and was able to go up forward as and when needed. Didn't mind some biffo either.

Yeah, it was a cracking game, I spent most of it laughing at Aldo Di Petta. There were some ripper games at PP that year - the Footcray game was a gem too.

very solid defender - in the 1987 Grand Final suprisingly started on the forward line which was his original position in WA. Yes it was a game against Richmond when he missed an important kick for goal - this was when Sticks, Bradley, Diesel and Hanna all had a milestone game on the same day. Think you would find it was in 1992? Used to match up on Dermie a fair bit. Very good one grab mark, not a great kick though

Molsey the game where he missed the goal was also Greg Williams 150th (I think) - was definately a milestone for him as well as I remember the 4 faces on the banner. Might want to edit that if you can work out how many games it was

I think I was at his first game at Waverley (Round 1, 1986), which was probably the greatest game in history for champions' debuts. Check this out: Kernahan. Bradley, Motley, Dora, Mil Hanna (for us) and Platten (for the Dawks). Hanna got injured and missed the rest of the season. Dora had a running battle with Dermie, beating him a few times, and was expected to line up on him in the 87 GF. In a master stroke surprise, Walls put Rhys-Jones on Dermie (rest is history) and had Dora and Kenny Hunter line up in the forward line. If those two could've kicked straight it would've been all over at Quarter Time. (Side note: That was probably the last good thing Walls ever did - in his life.... ) Dora also did some public work with early draft picks, most notably Matty Bate.....

I think he may have also been the innovator of standing on the mark as an opposition player walks back to take a shot on goal and as their back is turned walking back a few paces....I remember him doing it a couple of times around 91-92 with an unsuspecting opposition player running in to take a shot only to find Dorotich running straight at them. My vivid memory of him doing it was after walking back a few paces putting his arms up and standing the mark with a straight face before descending on the proper mark. I think it worked about 3-4 times before Peter McKenna cottoned onto it in the commentary position and the game was up.

The kick-in debacle was against St Kilda at Waverley. Kicking in from he behind, Dorra actually kicked the ground instead of the ball, the ball trickled towards Spider Everitt, so Dorra pounced on the ball and threw it straight back through the goals, and of course, conceded a free kick. If my memory sevres me well, we came from behind on that day, with Tommy Alvin kicking 4 or 5 goals and walking off the ground in tears as his Dad had died the night before. Ah, the glory days.

Dont let the kick in marr the fact he was a damn good defender and had some ripper contests with Dermie in the late 80's. Held up CHB for us against some very capable CHF's and was able to go up forward as and when needed. Didn't mind some biffo either.
