Whilst I wouldnt put clarkson down as one of the top coaches in the league, he is getting one thing right...

Quote:
``Before you start with your questions, you have to be aware that I don't want any questions in terms of noble efforts or anything like that because the effort we displayed today was the effort we expect every week,'' he said.

``Unfortunately for the bulk of the last six weeks, our effort in that regard has been nothing short of sub-standard.

``We don't have 10-goal losses like we have had consistently over the last six weeks unless the effort has been very, very poor.

``We are not interested in noble performance, we are interested in winning games of footy we are capable of and making sure the effort from week to week is consistent.'

If only our coaching staff adopted that attitude rather than what we seem to be getting atm. Perhaps we might have experienced less drubbings over the past few years :(

this after the Hawks lay down for 2 years

Perhaps Pagan's biggest flaw is that he tries to win.

I find that sad.

There was an interesting point made by Dwayne Rarsehole on 3AW last night.

In response to a caller bagging Denis, he made the point that we were probably lucky to have Denis through this horror period. He didn’t think a “new guyâ€

Jim you have an opinion and others have different opinions.

There must be a change in coaching personel IMO. The players need a new voice with a fresh & more tecnical approach guiding them. More specialised training in specific areas to improve tecniques (skills).
We need at least one full time ruck coach.
We need more focus on skills.
We need better, more structured game plans.
All fairly obvious Id've thought.

People could say I play footy as well as Chris Judd, that's an opinion too, but we all know it's a stupid one (everyone knows I'm better). Some opinions are educated and based on something real, others are purely out of hope or even stubborness. I think mine is well reflected on the scoreboard. Players get better, but wins a fewer each year. You work it out.

Anyway, it is a democratic society so we're certainly entitled to argue our views, whether right or wrong.

But in the presser he said a similar thing? Where's there's effort he is more than happy to say it... where there isn't like the second half, he admonishes them (and gets in trouble from some posters for being negative).

You cant win when you lose, its as simple as that.

We gave up the ghost after a promising start. Poor leadership and OK coaching by Thompson, we are, after all, a 1 trick pony at the moment and our pony cant beat 2 each time now can he? The last half was poor and he said so.

What many posters forget is Pagan is having to rebuild an entire team. Most rebuilding comes from having a rebuild a half a team, around some core leaders - look at WCE a few years ago. Look at Adelaide now. We've got nothing. Those good players that we had in 2001 or 2002 are now at the end and can not offer anything more.

Yep, we have Lance. Fevola (under development at the time). houlihan, wiggins.

Most Clubs rebuilding at least have a core to work with. That's all we had. The task was monumental.

What are you saying? the others you list have come in recently.

I'm saying that from we've had to rebuild completely. Richmond is still rebuilding and are a few years ahead of us, mainly because of the 2004 draft. We basically started from scratch. Given that, I dont understand why people advocate only 5-7 changes to the list this there.

I'm not sure where the "blame" lies; but we still persist in kicking to a contest....we don't peel off and provide targets as other teams do.

We don't run in support of each other, with the result being handpasses are hurriedly given out to team mates about to be claimed.

We either kick too short to a leading team mate....or just over his head.

It all reeks of inexperience and uncertainty in our ability to team with each other.

This was never more evident than yesterday when the poise and class of Murphy was so desperately missed from the midfield.

For all of the talk about our flooding, we remain woeful when combating someone else's flood. Its no surprise that we got close to the Eagles who stay away from tactics like that, plus our wins were against teams who werent flooding at that time.

Against Port, we were swept aside from our forward entries.

Yesterday, the Cats had two on Fev at all times and thankfully he won a afew - he won a few very very well. but we either dont push the ball through with hard running at half forward or have the ability to find the 'missing' target - the one who technically must be free. We just give it up so easily.

Im saying we lack structure and technically were all over the shop .. and the kids are not learning anything ...
Im saying..that yes we do lack leadership ive been saying it for YEARS... but kids need to play football.. not defenc Pagans record by tagging.. and playing behind the ball and having a negative mindset.

He needs to break the shackles!!!

Look out our forward line structure... its another defensive line... the mindset is completely negative and defensive and it breeds a lack of confidence and a lack of adventure.

Theyre all in negative mode...

count the taggers in the side...

would it be 15???

Its a joke!!!

You have to have a positive strcuture in a game of footy to win. You cant win by trying to save it.
Because its a high scoring game.

anyone will tell you the best form of defence is attack.

when we have so many defensive players.. the opposition know we are not coming at them from too many avenues... thats why Fev has 3 on him ... while we stack up the defence and midfield.. cos im assuming both sides have 19 players on the ground...

We just get picked off and they attack... thats all.

We never have anyone on the back foot!!!..NEVER!!!

The players wouldnt know how to get on the front foot.Simmo is the only one who can manage it and Walker tries...

Last week when Russell got tackled holding the ball i didnt mind.. he did it trying to take them on.

where Carrazzo used to take them on he doesnt anymore.. cos he is never in that position going forwards now.. hes usually out wide .

Again i ask what is our structure???

What are we attepmpting to do out there thats obvious???

Whats Eddies role???
