Was talking carlton with my posse the other day and all of us seem OK with coming last or second last. We are all that gutted that we'd probably be OK losing every game this year as long as the kids get some games. Most of us are turning up to each game even if dont expect a win.

As we all expect defeat and misery now, it seemd like not much else could hurt us. But is there anything that you feel would really gut you now?

For me it would be:
1. If any of the good young players left to be picked up by any other Club. Particularly Essendon*. If Simmo or Walker or Fish left us it would be a hard pre-season.

2. A long-term injury to any of our young kids.

And thats it. If Whitnall or Stevens or anyone else moved on or was traded would anyone really be upset?

Aint it funny? We can stomach a big loss for this year but we couldnt stomach a 30 game player leaving. FUTURE IS WHERE ITS AT.

What would tear up your intestines?

From here, winning 3 games in the next 8 would be pretty hard to take. To go through all the pain and then just miss out on another top 20 pick in a strong draft...

I think I'd like to beat the Bombers and finish second last with 3 or 4 wins from here. Get 3 good young kids in the first 20, and hopefully some more longer term prospects later in the draft

It has already happened IMO, That loss to Eagles over there devistated me, to be so far up, me dancing around the lounge room when we kicked that second goal in the third quater. Drinking cans as fast as you could say Fev! I was just on top of the world, ready to call a baby sitter cause I was hitting the pub HARD that night. That loss realy gutted me that night, and I dont think I will ever forget it, and in my opinion, nothing could break my heart as much as that game did.

Yeah i agree. Losing a player like Simpson or Walker (not that I think it will happen) would just kill me.

Getting anything less than a 5th round draft pick for Stevens would kill me too.

I reckon we would be lucky to get much for Stevens.

He seems to play worse each week.

By the end of the season he wont be able to geta kick for an undr 9's team.

Quite a few of the young players come out contract this year don't they?

Should we be hearing of resignings?

Dont know if you all saw it but there was this pooful piece of Sheedy journalism afew weeks ago where some Bumber Bummer crapped on about what sort of players Sheedy would target and it had Simmo in it. It just tore my guts in two and had me sitting in the mens room for ages.

if that happened I'd be absolutely guttered. But I reckon Carlton wont want to play ball with cash and its a real risk for us.

Hence Simmo's promotion to the leadership group

The carrot to keep him here cos it wont be money we can offer !!

I'll argue this until I'm blue in the face. Stevens would be a star for a top side, he just needs some consistent support so he doesn't cop all the attention week in-week out. Remember how good Campo was in the late 90's? No coincidence that his last few years at Carlton were rubbish.

That's harsh, DMac may have shortcomings but being soft is not one of them. One of the highlights from the weekend was his "don't argue bump" in the 4th Qtr.
