Had the pleasure of being able to train with a few of the boys last nigth as part of an Optus nigth for their corporate customers.

Denis spoke before hand and suggested Fish would probably be back as need a few more mature heads on the ground. Also looked as though Bryan would not get promoted as we would more than likely drop big guys due to the speed of the bullies.

Chatted to Wiggins who put his turn around down to not taking footy as seriously and not sooking on the couch for 3 days after a bad game like he used to. Also goes out with the Aussie diver Tourkey.

Walkers skills much better on a training ground than during a game. He hit me with a few bullets.

Setanta also very humble and a plaeasure to chat to

Bentick and Wiggins the strongest bench pressers

Thanks Kerna sounds like you a good time.

Just on Wiggins turnaround - have I missed something? Sure he's actually got his hands on the ball a bit more in the last 3-4 weeks but so what. I expect that and much more from a guy into his 6th year of senior football. Let's not assume he is safe just yet.

Bentick does 150, so does Chambers. Kouta isn't far off I think. I'm not sure about Wiggo.

It took Fev more than one year to turn it round. So maybe we'll see an even better Wiggins next year, if he's with us.

I think he's probably got the talent to, but whether he has the intestinal fortitude to is another matter.

Any mention of rookies being elevated this week?

In which case, we should get her to give him some lessons, and plonk him at FF, where he can dive, Lloydy style, for frees...

Well i guess Fish being back would be good, a marking target besides Fev. But if he takes out a kid for him it will be useless. Maybe for Sporn, and swap Dilbert for Bryan.

yeah and we cant drop de luca because his fomr has been solid for the last few weeks. we havent really got too many old players to drop for him either, only barney and lappo are over 30.

There'd be a few ahead of Wiggins to go.

KK - intestinal fortitude?

I always get blown away how most of us bench warmers challenge a guy like Wiggins (who has busted a gut to play AFL football), on whether he has the intestinal fortitude!?

Question him on his talent if appropriate, but i bow to his efforts to get to the level he has. Wiggins has most likely got more...what was it called?......intestinal fortitude......than the majority of the benchwarming cyberspace community.

Fair enough but he hasn't played for 8 weeks and I doubt he would be match fit. Missed rounds 2 & 3 also so has only played 5 games for the year.

Sounds like Pagan doesn't want Fev to be triple teamed all the time.

Doesn't sound like we can expect any rookies yet either.

Quote:
"A couple of our rookies like Jesse Smith, Ryan Jackson, Craig Flint, have done pretty well. We just want them to bang a little harder on the door."

"We'd like to give them an opportunity beforehand but they're not quite hitting the door harder enough at the moment. Just a couple of more thuds and we'll give them the opportunity," Pagan said

The example I was trying to compare Wiggins to is Fev.

It took Fev a couple of seasons to not only harness his abilities, which we have only seen this year, and in all-too-brief flashes since New Years Eve 1999/2000.

It took guts courage and hard work for Fevola to realise that he needed to get his head right before his skills would go to a new, higher, level.

I think Wiggins faces a similar challenge.

If Wiggins "fails" at the highest level of footy, it won't be because he wasn't given the chance, nor that his skills weren't up to it, but because he failed to challenge himself enough to get the most out of his skills and abilities. Let's face it, most of us would give our left nuts to have half the skills this kid does.

And for his to challenge himself, it will take G&D, or, as I put it earlier, intestinal fortitude.

We all face challenges. I'm facing mine. Wiggins has to face his own.

Does that mean we'll only have one ruckman?

they don't have too many ruckmen left so IMO 1 should be enough and this is the perfect chance to promote jackson and let him play because of his speed (i have got the right player haven't i?)

KK, I reckon you're miles off on Wiggins. Probably the only reason (apart from being pick 15 in the draft) he's still on the list is because he busts his gut and gives everything he has.
