Post subject:  Mucking Around With the Salary Cap

Imagine the crazy scenario that each Carlton player was given a salary commensurate with their dreamteam scores for the year?

So basically take the dreamteam scores (these are made of a composite of possessions, goals, tackles etc) and work out the percentage each player contributes to the overall team dreamteam score. Then use this percentage to determine each players share of this years $6.3M salary cap.

If the season ended last week this is how the money would be divided up amongst the players.

Heath Scotland $425,248
Nick Stevens $386,029
Lance Whitnall $365,579
Ryan Houlihan $363,618
Brendan Fevola $348,210
Kade Simpson $336,444
Adam Bentick $310,392
Andrew Walker $287,981
Matthew Lappin $284,339
Marc Murphy $274,534
Andrew Carrazzo $270,892
Bret Thornton $258,006
Anthony Koutoufides $239,517
Eddie Betts $225,790
Corey McGrath $216,826
Simon Wiggins $211,503
Barnaby French $202,259
Adrian De Luca $164,440
Dylan McLaren $164,160
Jarrad Waite $122,140
Jordan Bannister $114,576
Bradley Fisher $96,647
Luke Blackwell $91,045

Jordan Russell $73,116
Jason Saddington $72,836

The actual price system for the players in both dream team games is a joke now, Cox has dropped so much this year on the back of nothing.

It is based on a 3 week rolling average so that prices aren't overinflated

I know, but the changes can be too dramatic in certain circumstances.

Again with the Cox example, he lead the Nutrigrain comp for almost half the season but towards the end of this leading period his form tapered a tiny bit, resulting in a dramatic drop in his price despite his comanding lead.

Sure the rolling average dropped, but come on it wasn't that bad. He's down about $80k on last year despite a much better start to the year.

exactly same as fev, he satrted off on fire his price went up heaps and now his had 1 bad game and his price is lower than what is last year and everyone knows how much he's improved on last year.

I think the biggest problem is that the base salary is $60k and that it makes no allowance for back ended contracts.

Looks like I undervalued Stevens by about $30,000.

Loose change.

I reckon O'hAilpin and Fisher will move up that list by the end of the year.
