Does anyone have any idea of when our famous old grandstands, the Heatley & Gardiner stands, will be confronted by the wrecking ball? Whilst it will be a very sad day to watch a lot of the famous old CFC history being demolished I can’t wait for it to start because for me the symbolism of the event should really hit home with everyone involved at the club. The Carlton of old will be VISUALLY gone. The rebuild of the NEW AGE CFC will visually begin and just like a major home renovation will inspire some fresh planning with lots of optimism & excitement for the future. Bring it on! |

Good point. I think we should make sure that lots of pics of the stands are added to the Blueseum before this happens. M |

Pity they can't turn this into a marketing exercise - somehow sell the bench seats of as garden seats or something |

Well they could. But they won't. That would require forward thinking. |

Get 50 past/present players to sign 200 bricks each from the demolition of the stands. 10,000 signed bricks at $10 each. If 1 in 3 members buys a brick they will be sold out and $100,000 comes in. |

We could do a LOT worse than that. |

could have more expensive bricks mounted or something with a photo of the stand etc or just your basic brick and so on. Pretty obvious, if we had a museum or hall of fame we could put the Heatley Stand sign in there - god knows what they will with our heritage now! |

I'd buy a 6ft length of Heatley Stand or Gardiner Stand bench seat for $200, no problem. It's such a no-brainer, I'd be amazed they wouldn't try it. It netted the MCC some pretty serious dollars a few years ago. |

Can we get away from money spinning exercises which rely on either renaming a stand, demolishing a stand, buying a stand's seat. We need to make a stand, broaden our horizons and come up with other marketing strategies. I'm sure our Marketing Department is working on something as we speak. ![]() |

![]() yes, you're right RW, we definately need to come up with some innovations...but the club would be mad if they didn't take advantage of the souvenir aspect of tearing down the stands. You don't knock back maga$$$ just 'cos it's boring. |

Absolutely Mrs C. IMHO don't think this will be a big attention grabber and money spinner. |
