Brendan Fevola currently sits on 65 goals for the season which is a pretty good effort considering the lack of quality delivery he gets plus the double & triple-teaming the opposition give him.

Now some years ago, the greatest player in the history of the Carlton Football Club, one Alex Jesaulenko became the first ever player in the club's history to kick 100 goals in a season. From memory, it was in 1972 and he kicked goal 100 in the First Semi-Final (feel free to correct me on that bit). Since then, he has remained as the only player for the Blues to do so.

With 5 rounds of the regular season left to go, one has to wonder if Fevola can manage to reach the magical ton and join Jezza in an elite category ??

He's currently averaging 3.82 goals per game and to get the extra 35 he needs, he would need to dramatically inprove this ratio to 7.0 per game which is a huge ask by anyone standards.

I'll settle for 4.0 per game on the run home for him to finish on 85. If he can get that far, it should be enough of a spur for him to bridge the gap in 2007.

So are you suggesting that he will only kick one goal per game in these final 5 rounds ???

Until Plugger Lockett or Piggy Dunstall have their kids drafted under father/son I can't see another 100 goalkicker for a while! The game has changed too much. (damned that flooding tactic)

Just look how much Lloyd has struggled of late (and may he continue to suffer). The only exception to this may be a full forward who plays all 22 H + A games plus 3 finals.

I'd love to see Fev do it but given the piss poor delivery he gets I am amzed he has 65 goals so far this year!

He got 13 against 4 of the 5 remaining teams at the beginning of the year (the other one being against the Hawks when he was suspended). You'd have to think he will end up a bit over 80.

I reckon he could kick 100+ goals a year..................but the problem is with the supply & the game plan.

Could you imagine how many he would kick at the Eagles.......Damn that's a scary thought! Really goes to show just how valuable he has been this year.

Does anybody know when was the last time a player won the coleman in a wooden spoon season>????? :?

About 80 for this year would be a good effort........he is capable of kicking 100 in years to come but that wont win us a flag.......we need others who can kick 30-40 plus as well....

Fev said that Murphy's injury would cost him about 20 goals in terms of less pinpoint delivery. Add that in & he'd get his ton!

BTW, Jezza's ton was in 1970

So Fev's basically saying that Murph's worth at least 2 goals a game to us... and that's not counting the goals Murph gets himself.

Remember - this is a guy who's 18 years old and has played a grand total of 12 games.

Just goes to show that we need another year of access to the top draft picks before we assemble a decent team.

Fev currently averages about 3 or 4 goals a game. If he was playing in a better side, he would average about 6 a game, and he would occasionally kick a huge bag of 10 or so. For example, Lloyd and Gehrig kick maybe a 6 goals over 3 games and then they can kick ten, whereas Fev kicks a consistent 4 or 5, and the occasional 1 or 2 when we have an absolute shocker. He should push 90 this year, and hopefully he can get a few centuries in years to come.

Actally he's averaging 4.0625 goals per game this year (he was suspended one game) so he is on target for 85. Would like to see him step it up and finish with 90.

i was going to say that myself but thought i'd sound like a smartass correcting figures, i feel better now that that's out of the way.

Yeah, Fev picked the worst game to be suspended for. If you add on the obligatory 8 he would have kicked on Zac Dawson - thats 73 and only needs just over 5 goals a game to reach the ton!

do yaz reckon he'll overtake sticks as carlton's greatest goalkicker considering that when sticks was 25 he had over 100 goals less than fev? take into consideration that sticks played in much better teams, played finals and had an injury-free run and fevola has dodgy groins.
