Changes I'd like to see are:

In: Lappin, Bower
Out: McGrath, O'Hailpin (injured? - otherwise keep playing him)

I'd like us to give Hartlett a good run in the seniors before seasons end. Maybe we should wait until the Hawthorn and Richmond matches where we should be competitive.

Sad to say but I don't really want to see Lappin come back into the side.

Our recent history against Melbourne isn't too bad, ignoring the 100 point flogging in 2004.

thanks to CSC for the idea to create a thread to discuss this game beforehand

Pickett & Davey out are huge blows for them. We still won't win, but that makes it a much more even game.

If we have any chance of a win we need:

IN: Kernahan, Bradley, Ashman, Doull, Rhys-Jones, Harmes, Jezza, Nichols, James, The Dominator, Sheldon, Marcou, SOS, Diesel, Brown, Hanna, Spiro, Fitzpatrick and Mark Athorn  (we'll need to abuse one of our own)

OUT: the team that played yesterday minus the usual hard workers.

No, but I hope the new Neitz specialist finally gets a game.

Come on down Adam Hartlett. This boy is going to be a gun. Just you wait.

I have a pretty good record of picking talent, (Simmo, T-Bird, Eddie, Blackers just to name a few), and Hartlett will be a gem.

Not to brag or anything...

Wouldn't mind seeing Hartlett get a run. He seems to have his body fit and although he hasn't figured in the best players for the Bullants he does seem to be playing with some confidence.

Bugger about Flint.........................guess he was knocking to hard

I hope you're right Jeremias.

If Hartlett and Bower can become quality defenders for us our future will be looking very promising.

Lappin seems out of favour so it is prett unlikely that he will come back in just yet. Shouldn't drop McGrath because he will be suited pretty well to Robertson. French has been very ordinary of late. Haven't been to any Bullants games this year so I'm not sure whether to opt with Hartlett or Bower. Banno will more than likely get dropped because of the game time he had v Freo.

Agree.

Dropping Betts won't happen. 2 games up one down, what can you expect from a 19 year old playing forward pocket. No Eddie = no defensive pressure in our forward line.

Eddie is not gonna play a blinder every week. His main job is to be the magical goalsneak that he is.

If he gets less than 10 dissposals a game - i don't care!

It's his presence around goals and the preasure he extorts on our opponents with his chasing and tackeling that is needed! For that reason alone, i;d keep him in the team.

I can't really see to many ins & outs this week. There were a couple of people that had bad games, but we're just gonna replace them with players who are gonna have bad games anyway and get dropped in a couple of matches time. I don't think the problem is with our players.

The only ins id like to see is Lappin for perhaps McGrath & if O'Halphin is injured, replace him with either Bower or Hartlett.

I'm not saying Bower or Hartlett are 100% absoultley guaranteed ready to make their debuts........................i'm saying that club needs........MUST......HAS TOO............do something to ignite the fans and gain their attention back to the games. That loss against freo REALLY was the straw on the camels back for quite a few fans by the look of things.

Perople were leaving at half time. I heard others say they're not going again this year!
17,000 is an awful crowd! The fans are CRYING out for some hope and i'll bet you most of the 17,000 supporters who did stay after half time were mainly interested in seeing the kids play well! At least give them something!

Absolutely ryan2000. The Club needs to build up hope in the kids to feed the fans, indeed to keep the fans. The team that ran out last week was a team that could have represented us in 2005, perhaps with the exception of Blackwell. There's nothing from the 2005ND for us to watch and hope for anymore.

Take out Fevola, Blackwell and a few others and there's little to barrack for. The Club should be reminding the fans of the hope stored on the list - for there's nothing really else to cheer for, is there? We've been crying out for a rookie promotion, which wont happen now as injuries are lighter, we've been crying out to watch the kids... heck we've been crying out to hear from the kids but the Club wants to keep them under raps / 'not too much pressure'...

Bower and Hartlett should get games regardless of form, in my view. Give me hope for 2007 and beyond from something other than the November draft!

Why drop Eddie.?....like others have said he isnt going to play well every week but thats part of the learning curve...we need his indiginous flair to create something out of nothing.
In such a sterile game that gets played these days you need players who can
provide magic and change games...beat the flood, beat the chip the ball around method...
Eddie is one of the few we have who can do it...check the other teams....all the other teams are now looking for young aboriginal goal sneaks who can give you some magic...Rhan Hooper is the latest......smart Ashley Sampi type.. We should be encouraging Eddie and looking for others like Davey, Hooper, Wells etc....makes me cringe when I read posters wanting to drop Eddie....and who for...Teague, Sporn, Chambers?????......what are we trying to achieve.?....

I've got a $100 hopes on us winning this week which i think we have a decent chance against Melbourne with Pickett and Davey out, we also match up on them well! Also Lappin and Bower to come into the side!

I'd like to see Eddie under Barry Mitchell. I love his chasing from behind, his tackles and general tenacity around the packs, but he is not consistent enough for my liking. He was thrust into the senior side soon after he was drafted and has really not had any chance to dominate in a lower competition. If it is good enough for Kennedy, o'Hailpin, Bower, Edwards, Blackwell, Russell, Hartlett, etc. then it is good enough for Eddie. Still if he is kept in the side then no big deal, but he does spend a bit of time on the pine as well.

I think that the more we push to get the younger kids such as Bower, Flint and Hartlett to get a senior game, the more resistant the MC gets.

Not sure what Marketing savvy the likes of DP, Trout and Sticks have but a rocket scientist could tell you that you need to build up your disenfranchised supporter base for 2007 and by doing that is giving them a sniff of what's to come.

Nothing worse than getting beaten with the likes of McGrath, Sporn, Teague etc playing in the team when you have untried youth sitting in the seconds.

Not expecting to win, Melbourne are a top side and really need this win to give them a top 4 finish, just hope we stay with them as best we can, not let them blow us out of water. We know we can match them after round 1 and i know they are a different side now it will still be in the back of their minds.

Big test for Fev this week too, Demons defence has been awesome for most of the year and ill be happy if Fev can kick a bag again.
