Fev was just interviewed on the footy show and he said that he wants to be captain of the club if kouta steps aside. He said he would gain the repest of the younger blokes and that he wants to lead the blues and lead them out of this troubled time. The Fev has changed and now wants to be skipper Fev For Captain |

Pretty telling I think. That this bloke is in the leadership group and is putting his hand up for captaincy is staggering when you think of his situation with the club at trade time last year. His is our MVP by a long shot - and he has worked really hard and said and done all the right things to put himself into a leadership position. Yet i'm not sold on the idea of Captain Fev.. And i'm not sure what more he could do to sway my position. He's an enigma, isn't he? He's an interesting proposition as captain - it could work gangbusters or otherwise be sorta meh. He'd have to watch his clowning antics if he was captain though - any slip-ups and everyone would be onto him in a flash. Supporters and the media. Also he would never again be allowed to drop his head on the field - doing that would be suicide if he was captain. One thing - he is genuine, and seems to have a good rapport with everyone that he meets, including the youngsters in the side. I dunno really. I'm not against it, but I have my reservations. |

He's certainly matured for it and is working hard to earn it. I'd give it to him. Young, Hungry and Dedicated = the makings of a new Captain. |

Maybe we can turn this thread into a poll? I'd be interested to hear who is and isn't for Brendan as captain, and who isn't sure. Just a thought. |

wouldnt mind fev being captain but for mine I'd like to see him at this current level for at least another season before giving him the gig - ie elevate to vice captain, see how he goes and then consider elevation into captaincy down the track |

Concerntrate on your footy, Fev. Still not mature enough to be captain. Vice, yes, no problem but I wouldn't risk his footy for a bit of ego. 12 months of good behaviour is not enough by a long shot. Lance has the mental capacity to lead and have the flamboyant Fev as his side kick. |

Has the things this year that would make him a good choice: 1/ physical attributes - prepares well 2/ mental attributes - a more mature (expected) approach 3/ game that leads from the front and sets an example 4/ media attention that if harnessed correctly would draw contstructive attention too the club. A calculated risk but worth it, and i would make Simmo, Murphy and Lance his vice captains. |

Might be a good way empower the younger players on the list. Basically saying to the list lets take the leadership away from those players older than Fev. Let whoever is left of those senior players just play out their careers without expecting explicit leadership from them in the media, at training etc. With Fev as Captain the 'leadership' at the club can move to a level that is closer to where most of the list is at the moment (young). IMO Fev would be able to communicate with the young guys on the list much better than the other candidates. It would really invigorate the playing list I reckon. Imagine your captain kicking a 60 metre goal!! That's inspiring stuff. |

I'm all for Fev as captain. I know he's slightly eratic at times (less so now than previously), however, the media profile he has would be awesome. There is NO ONE at the club who is as media friendly as Fevola. They either can't string 2 words together or (most likely) it is not in their personality to do the media......Hi Denis We need to be more active in selling the brand....and with Fev he will do a good job in interviews. Imaging Fev with our younger members....he can single handedly shore up our membership future with the next generation... On the downside.....his wish to play in the NFL. Will he leave Carlton in 2 years time for a punting rols in the NFL? Something we need to consider. GO FEV ![]() |

Fev wants to be Captain I think the big postive of Fev's turnaround is the example he can provide to the kids i.e. make the commitment and you will get the rewards. Fev for captain ? Why not ? |

I'd say yes...I've never really had an issue with his body language..at least he shows he cares and he plays with passion..unlike other touted leaders such as Stevo...For mine Whittas or Fev |

no problem at all with fev being the captain. i dont like leadership groups, thinks its abit of a wank. there should be three people involved. forward leader midfield leader defence leader forward leader = fevola midfield leader = murphy in a few years but not yet defence leader = whintall at the moment, but T-Bird in a few years i have no issue with Fevola being captain as the few times i have watched TFS this year and he has been on and someone says something negative or the like about CFC - he defends the club without exception. yep - i have no problem at all with Fev being captain. perhaps whintall captain, fev - vc, murphy - dvc for this and the next couple of years then promote fev to captain, murphy vc, t-bird dvc |

I'm not against Fev being captain either..has matured and does fly the flag for his teammates ....worth considering.....would need to improve his body language though when things are not going well... |

If appotining him Captain gets the Carlton players to actually LOOK for him and pass him the ball, then I'm all for it. |

Fevola has more media profile than the rest of the club put together. If we are going to sell this rebuilding of the club and get members on board we need a leader with profile. Whits is good on the field but the media will never take him seriously. Fev is a much more polished performer and genuine 'A' grade player. History is littered with examples of rough diamonds emerging as great leaders, why shouldnt Fev be ours. We need to be bold to climb out of this malaise, steady as she goes plodding on with the same old formula will get us nowhere. Fev for Captain and lead the emergence of the new CFC Breed. |

Imagine if he does another chase-down of Pickett (or similar) like he did in Round 1 as Captain? We'd all be over the moon. Add the kids love him, his goal kicking ability... then there's a lot of support for it. The only downside to me is having your Captain at FF - if we're getting pumped he won't be in the game much. but we have to be adventurous I think going forward - we have to start selling ourselves and Fev is a natural. I'd say Yes. |

I'm all for it. He's inspirational, charismatic, and just the sort of person to bridge the gap between our kids and our elderly coaching panel. Plus the NEXT GENERATION of supporters will love it. Got no problem with his wayward past. Barry Hall was a flower for the first 5 years of his AFL career, and he's turned out allright. Shit, Geelong are even talking about appointing Cam Mooney as Captain (the guy who gets himself suspended four times each season!) Got no problem with a full-forward as captain either. Sticks did the job pretty well in his last few years parked close to the goalsquare. |
