Good to see the club is attempting to do something. Hopefully they get some good suggestions that can be implemented as a result of this.

The move away from PP has meant that a lot of the things that made a social club membership great for some SC members have changed quite a bit.

What are your thoughts about the Social Club? How should it be changed? Should it be changed?

Me too and I will be attending. Good move by the club.

Would be very interested to hear results of this, as I am not a social club member I would love to know if it is worthwhile. As far as I can tell they really need a room that actually has a view of the ground at TD, not sure what is on offer at the G. The Kangaroos have an area at TD including pokies, so they are doing well there.

How about buses from Carlton to the G' or TD' - do social club members want this? Perhaps if the players went back to Carlton after games it would encourage some spending at the old social club bar?

Find this guy a job in the membership department.

I'm not a social club member either.

I wonder if the club could be asking people like kk and I why we're not social club members and what kind of benefits would entice us to join.

They've done that in the past for AFL members & probably other types. Not sure whether it achieved anything.

For starters the general public get better seating and facilities at the G than we do.

Watching the game from behind the glass was a great experience at Princess Park. SC members can't do that any more.

I really miss drinking beer that was reasonbly priced from a glass pot while watching the football. They should bring back that opportunity too.

I also think some how they should bring back the "Kicking to the Social Club End Last Quarter". We won a lot of games when we were kicking to the Social Club end in the last quarter.

Now that things have changed so much they should merge the Gold and SC memberships together.

without changing this into a 'how we got reemed up the ar$e when we left optus' thread - we should really have stood our ground with TD and insisted on having a proper area for the social club as part of the deal. The sticks room is an insult to the great man, also, look at what Collingwont get at the 'G, the Ponsford end is pretty much all theres now - what do we get? I went to a presidents lunch there last year and even that wasn't all that great.

YES!

I was actually told that....................BY A COLLINGWOOD SUPPORTER who was watching his team destroy us in the luxury of the Social Club room.
God i was pissed off at that!
My first ever time in the Carlton Social Club (only upgraded my membership this year) and i gotta put up with a Collingwood supporter taking the piss!

So those that have problems, stop whinging on here and either get along to the arranged night or send the club your issues via email so that they can be looked at by the Marketing department.

And if you have already sent an email then send another one and another one until you get a reply of some sort. But remember - They can't please everyone, every time.

Some people just never let a chance go by to complain and moan.

Regards Cazzesman

I've sent a number of emails, funny how I didn't get the email Jarusa got.
I'm done complaining to them, I'll get an AFL membership next year.

I think the concept of doing a survey/focus group of Melbourne Members asking them what would tempt them to take up SC membership in addition to the SC Members survey would give the Club a more rounded picture of what flaws there may be with SC memberships, and also why people don't take up that option.

I'll be going. Like cazz said, it's my turn to have my say about the facilities we are stuck with & I applaud the club for getting this up.

very good point KK, it is one thing to talk to current members but they should look at all those that aren't anymore also - maybe they will in time.

I sat in front of the Sticks room on Saturday and couldn't believe the set up - during the game there was about 12 people in there, half time didn't look much different - I guess afterwards it would have been crowded???

Does anyone know if we even get the money over the bar in there?

Anyway, for those going I think it should be mentioned that a room is required where people have the option to have a drink and watch the game at the same time AND be given high quality seats close to that room.

I was talking to a mate about this at the Freo match.

Yes it would be nice if the Sticks Room overlooked the ground, & I have said that myself on a couple of accasions, but isn't everying on L2 Medallion Club, Livewires etc?

Do we know if any other TD clubs have social clubs where you can watch the game from behind glass?

I pretty sure Kangaroos have a room that overlook the ground.

Just got a call from the Club, they had such a huge response that they are now ringing people not to attend as to limited numbers - so I missed out on the meeting. Just shows that a lot of people are very keen to tell the club what they think about the lousy way the Club trats its premium members....

Do you mean they cancelled because of limited numbers?

Or they are asking people not to come to limit numbers?
