IMO the Carlton Football Club must be doing everything in its power to get Michael Voss to the club in some sort of coaching capacity.

Coaching appointments are by there very nature risky, but someone with Voss' experience, ability to lift in finals, leadership, media savvy, perceived tactical knowledge and former links with Carlton as a supporter make for what many people would think would be an excellent coach.

Does anyone know if anything is happening behind the scenes? And if nothing is hapening, can someone get it happening?

Seems to be more interested in a media career imo.

Although, I'd love to get him on board.

Bit of a radio rumour he has been promised the Brisbane coaching job after Matthews and will spend a couple of years in the media in the meantime....
Both he and Hird shook hands after their last game and both indicated to each other that will be the last time....
We would be hard pressed to prise him out of Brisbane but you never know if you dont ask...

I'm with Jarusa.

Out: Trout and/or Libba
In: Voss

Has to be both, not one or the other. Trout and Libba are deadweights.

i think with our review of our coaching panel a definate get would be to grab someone like Voss now that it looks like he is retiring

Key points to Voss

Great leadership / will be recently out of the game / great understanding of the game / 3 time premiership captain / commands respect

And i am sure there are many more great attributes but we need to restructure our coaching panel and what better option would be a Voss

What people think

If he would be willing to move to Victoria after all his years in QLD i would definitely take him on board. A true champion, one of the best players i have ever seen.

I hope the club is currently/planning on making some polite enquiries to Voss, especially after yesterday's Lions press conference when he all but said he will be retiring at seasons end.

He's been through the crap times and made it to the ultimate peak. We need his experience helping and guiding our kids!

Beat me to it, Jarusa. I was going to post exactly the same thread. :-D

I wrote this in another thread:

Good call. I definately see merit in this.

He seems to have the 'package'. He:

- Has top-class football skills
- Plays a no-nonsense and hard-at-it brand of football
- Has broad football experience - has seen the highs and the lows
- Is a leader - the captain of perhaps the most successful team in VFL/AFL history
- Is respected in the football community
- Is a good communicator
- Previously barracked like mad for the Carlton Football Club

I'd love to see him brought down to the CFC in an assistant coach role.

I'm all for it - it would be fantastic to see us use some initiative and be pro-active for a change. It would also be a positive and popular move - you'd think that the media and importantly the supporters would be all for it.

Chase him, blues.

Here, here!

He has all the credentials to make it as a coach.

Voss has said before that he would have liked to have played footy in Melbourne (with a Melbourne club) so can't see moving being a big problem. But with the media rumoured to be throwing money at him for next year it would be highly unlikely unless he wants to be a head coach and follows the Worsfold path of getting experience away from his club for a few years.
