to win the brownlow, i mean he has had an awesome year, very underrated, he is averaging 27 touches a game and is third in the comp in disposals behind west and goodwin who are two hot favourite for the medal. He would be my smokey what do you guys think.

Has had a good year and will place high in the John Nicholls medal, but I doubt he'll win the Brownlow.

He'll get a fair few votes and will lead the votes for Carlton I would think, but I don't think he'll get close.

We havent won enough games, plus in the games we have won im sure Fev will pole higher in.

His efforts often go unnoticed, and he will find it hard to get many 3-voters because they usually go to a winning team's player. Even when we have won he has been about 2nd or 3rd best. I doubt he will even lead Carlton's votes.

What do I think?

I think you're going to get your standard set of replies unfortunately Fevolution - chin up son.

Scotland has had a nice year, but he'd be lucky to push past 10 votes (as would Fev) with the way we have been travelling.

I can see the two of them and Whitnall being our vote pollers.

Sorry Fevolution but stats mean NOTHING anymore with the shit players play.....look at Bassett's 21 uncontested marks last week that people are raving about

Scotland has had a good year but the fact he is third in possessions is meaningless - more than ever performance is about quality and not quantity as a player can have 30 touches and have NO impact on a game

He may make All-Australian at best, but I doubt that too.

He's had a fantastic year and IMO will probably win the Nicholls medal but we needed to win a few more games to increase any Brownlow chances.
Great to see he's had such a brilliant turn arount since his slump last year.

Wallace had Bassett, Scotland and Bowden in his team of the week. Maybe he just looked at the stats.

I don't think he'll actually poll all that many votes in the Brownlow but I have said for a while that he gets nowhere near the credit he deserves certainly in the wider media but for some reason on this site as well. Not sure why this is, maybe it's the fact he came from Collingwood, I don't know.

Heath to me is one of those players that is always more likely to win a Best and Fairest than a Brownlow, he gets a lot of the ball but probably doesn't produce enough eye-catching moments or exhibit enough brilliance and is not flashy enough for the umpires to really take note. But he has been bloody consistent and the club would surely be rapt with his season. I've said for a while that he's been our most consistently good player this season even ahead of Fev. Has become one of our most valuable players.

Pagan praise for Scotland

http://carltonfc.com.au/default.asp?pg= ... eid=287803

Quote:
Carlton coach Denis Pagan has lauded the season key ball-winner Heath Scotland is having for the Blues although the midfielder/half-back has attracted little fanfare for his vastly-underrated season.

Pagan said Scotland - one of Carlton's best this season - had taken his game to another level in 2006.

"He's ranked very highly now and the year that Heath's had is as good as any of our small midfield running type players - (he's been) as good as any of them."

"He's had a wonderful year and I suppose if you counted our best-and-fairest at the moment, I would've thought that Lance Whitnall was a long way in front and then all of a sudden he's been pegged back by Heath and Brendan Fevola.

"From the coach's thinking, he'd be right up there with them (as the best Carlton player in 2006)."

And Pagan's thoughts are backed up by some compelling statistics.

Scotland has averaged 27 touches in 2006 and has won 486 disposals - the third-most in the competition behind Bulldog Scott West and Adelaide's Simon Goodwin. Both players are hot favourites for this year's Brownlow Medal.

Heath has been fantastic this year .... there's no way he'll win the Brownlow, but he'll probably poll the best of our players.

Most ridiculous post this year. Please do yourselves a favour and look at how many times he calls for the ball in a stationary or pressured position...how many times has he been tackled and turned the ball over...how many times does he turn in a circle and kick backward and then call for it again...how many times does hekick to a 2 on 1 and turn the ball over....

...Do yourselves a favour - stop reading stats...they mean nothing...he is not in our top 6. Trade him while someone thinks he is worth something....I'd take the Saints pick 81 for Heath Scotland right now.

Bit harsh..I have not been a great fan up until now but his work rate has improved and he is one of the few players who is equally good on both sides of his body...
He is putting himself in more now for contested footy and has improved his decision making...part of his problem with regards to clangar errors is the lack of ability of some of his teammates to present for the ball...they stand flatfooted or run into a guarded area and not into space...there was an instance vs Melbourne in the backline where he had posession but couldnt find a target.....he had to double back twice but was good enough to find someone but he had to create the opportunity as his teammates were not giving him anything....one of our best this year and has a lot more class than I thought....
May have also settled down and realised he has to be a leader and not get involved in off field stuff.. re that slapping incident..
