Interesting thing on Fox Footy before the game yesterday. The commentators were talking about the decline of the 2 great clubs in Carlton & Hawthorn. To illustrate they showed the final positions on the 2001 ladder with both finishing 4th and 5th or something like that. They explained how this was just before the slide commenced.

What I found interesting was to have a look at who was at the bottom at the time. Bottom 3 clubs - Freo, Aints and Eagles.

Clearly the worm has turned. We get all flustered week to week because that is what Barracking's all about, but realistically time is in our favour. The worm will turn again and the cycle will go on. What was also interesting was that several of the midlle of the road clubs are still there or thereabouts. There will always be exceptions, but with the competition so contrived via the draft, the best place for us to be is wherever we can pick up the top talent until we can have another crack at the flag. Hate to see the blues loose, still gutted every week, but im starting to learn patience

Absolutely 2nd Effort.

I reckon we are gradually building the nucleus of a very good side.

Look where the 2 grand finalists of 2001 are sitting now,

come to think of it, the draft cycle is close to an exact science

This is absolutely spot on. These days it's a matter of wait and develop to get the chocolates.

If you look at, say, the WC eagles team of 2001 that had a percentage of 65 or so, you'll see about 8 players that are still there today.

This seems to be a common thread -

Question is..............based on the game from Sunday..........

WHO WILL BE OUR 8 IN 5 YEARS FROM NOW????

Fevola
Simmo
AW
Thornton
Blackwell
Russell ??

Given that you can't count Murph and JK because they weren't playing on Sunday, who else could we include taking ability and age into account??

The cycle.

Our bike has no wheels, seat, chain, handle bars or pedals. It has a frame and the rest of the parts are on order.
