| Post subject: | Gotta stop waiting on Waite |
Is it just me or does Waite seem disinterested? He looks like he doesn’t want to play for the jumper. No point in letting him play another season at Carlton when he doesn’t give 2 shits, besides we could get something out of him. I like the move with Walker playing forward. He has developed his defensive skills, which would help him enormously come next year. Any thoughts? |

i find him EXTREMELY frustrating......... mainly because i know what he is capable of but he never fulfills this and never delivers. |

Tall, quick, good mark... Young... You think we're so good we can afford to get rid of someone like that? Yeah, he's frustrating, but when he's very good, he's great. He's just like our whole damned football club. And why do you think he doesn't care? He might be a little pissed with playing in a team that loses all the time... But I reckon most of the side would feel that way... |

Needs coaching during games, but does not appear to get any ... e.g. runner should have been out to him a number of times today. |

His football has been rather spasmodic for us, but to be fair to him he has always never been able to string a season of games together. If he can do a full pre-season and play 20 games next year, then he and the coaching staff may find out his best-suited role. Currently he just bounds around the forward 50 and tries to take a mark and goal. If he can spend a long time in the 1s, you will probably see him find his feet and play his role week in week out. Right now it is not blatantly aware what "his role" is. He is a tall forward yes, but he also has great athleticism for a guy of his size. Thus we could try him at different places on the ground. His talent alone warrants being picked in our first 22. Thus, there is nothing we can do but develop a spot which matches his strengths. Whether that be a floating HFF, wingman, or a HBF, give him a crack at playing a full season in that position. If he is still playing erratic football next year then we should look for a trade. Just let him complete a full summer and (hopefully) have an injury free 2007. Then we will be able to pass proper judgement. |

That's not bad given he mostly played inside the 50 with the occasional late journey up the wing. And since when is 23 old? |

Waite has a great spring, always looks like he is under the ball but somehow gets his fingers on it. The only thing Waite needs to do is to not overcommit himself when chasing a player who is about to take a mark or chasing somebody down. He has had to many interrupted seasons so far... |

To state the obvious he can't keep his feet -and therefore is out of the contest to often at this level. Think he needs some Ant time to remind him of the hard yards, he has also lost his trademark (often reckless) aggression. that said I wouldn't even consider a trade for him, has a massive upside. |

He is one player we could actually trade.... if we don't it won't bother me, if we do and get some value out of it, I won't complain. He is very frustrating to watch. |

Waite and Fisher are similar to Tarrant...both can be great or give you nothing...both can kick goals but both can miss as many as they kick. I would be patient another season...like with Fev some of us jumped the gun and wanted him gone....I think we can give them another year to settle and find a position in the team.. Kennedy is a lynch pin player..so much depends on him making the grade at CHF...other pieces will fall into place once he gets up and firing...likewise some class delivery from players like Marc Murphy can make players like Waite deliver the goods.....lets be patient.. |

Waite is playing the hardest position on the field, CHF. And personally, I don't think he is a CHF. Pagan said in the press conference a few weeks ago, that they wanted to try Waite at CHB, when Kennedy was able to play CHF. I think Waite would make a great CHB, once he learned the position. He is tall (194cm), athletic, has a good leap, long arms to punch and has some dash to run off the half back line. For sure, he needs to learn defensive skills, but I reckon it's the ideal position for him. I wish they'd play him there for the rest of the season actually, to see how he goes, and whether he shows potential. If he does, it may help clarify the Gibbs v Hansen debate as well. If not CHB, then he is better suited to a wing, or flank. He needs to be able to roam and collect, I don't see him as a pack marking CHF. |

Waite has had three (?) decent injuries this year, one in pre-season. While I have been dissapointed with some of the things he has done on the ground this year (i.e. not looking for an option after marking in the forward line, going to ground, one handed attempts for marks etc.) the fact that he has had a very interrupted year is probably going to be a good excuse for him. With a full pre-season and an injury free year I expect nothing less than a 40+ goal season and plenty of assists next year if he plays the majority of the season on a flank or CHF. Thought he had a real claim to step up into leadership material this year but the injuries and his own bad habits have put paid to that. Like many other players if the right deal came up and the club stood to benefit he should not be immune to a trade. |

Will never make a CHF so long as his you know what points to the ground.And even less chance to make it as a CHB.Most frustrating and annoying player on our list.Which poster likened him to Chris Tarrant ? Take a bowe,coz ya hit the nail on the head.Trouble with Jarrad is he has so much talent and upside,you would never forgive yourself if you let him go.Reckon he is gonna become one of those loved and hated players that we cant do without.The contraversy has just started for Jarrad.When he is on song he is dynamite. |

Please every one get off his back..... It looks like he is going through the motions, but remembers he lacks match fitness because he has barely played this season. Next year when he has a solid pre season he will be ready to prove his worth. Who ever wants to trade Waite, for any thing less than a first round draft pick are clowns (probably the same knockers who wanted to trade FEV last season). He's is important to our future and needs the supporters to back him rather than stick the knives into him every time he plays and isn’t 100% match fit. Pagan is doing him any favours either by rushing him back into the first 18. |
