Post subject:  Down the Pies or Secure the Pick?

Well I posed this question last week in another thread, but now it is here for us all to ponder.

What should we do this week? I am torn between the immediate gratification of beating Collingwood and upsetting their feeble finals campaign. Of course this will bump us off the bottom of the ladder and give us picks 2 and 19.

Or do we just play a competitive game to keep our fans happy, but lose just to ensure that we keep picks 1, 17 and 19?

Oh the dilemma. Immediate gratification could be good. 8)

Secure the Pick!

Rather than beating Collingwood once in the next ten years, we can secure this pick and hopefully this new player will help us beat Collingwood in many years to come.

I’m willing to Loose in the short term, to gain in the long run................

Pick for me. One more potential good sneior player on the list for 2-3 years down the track, or even sooner if we are lucky. Between the two second round picks we'd have we would have to be unlucky if one of them didn't wind up to be a 150+ gamer.

Look if we had a crack for four quarters and we were not able to beat them then fair enough. I am happy to accept that we're not quite good enough just yet.

But if we play a half of fantastic football and let the floodgates open for a period of time, ala Sunday first half of 2nd quarter, then I will be angry.

Two rounds to go - all I wish for is an HONEST performance.

Let Collingwood win so they think they have the flag ripe for the taking, then laugh maniacally when they get their comeuppance in the finals.

If we go through this entire year of pain without an extra pick you'd have to question why we bothered.

Winning this week would be the worst possible end to the year. Odd isn't it?

Play for the pick!

Don't want another week of nothing but negative posts after a win vs Collingwood.

The pies should smash carlton. so like every week whether the Blues win or lose won't be up to them, but their opponent.

i'm not going to worry stressing about it.
if we win i'll be stoked in the lads but dissapointed that we could have got an extra early pick for free.

i'd be more than happy if the MC decided to play the kids in the last two rounds and stacked the side with kids.

harlo, bower, edwards russell and co should come in for stevens (obviously not right) mcgrath and co.

I love how you blokes reckon it is some sort of plan that you have done so poorly this season.

Beat Collingwood or take the pick?

I reckon you're trying to placate your embarassment by somehow pretending you have a choice.

I love you you blokes....nah, I don't love anything about you blokes.

Interesting spot to quote...says nothing about what you're saying, to which I would otherwise agree. My point is that a stolen win at the end of this year would undermine the only benefit that being so poor can actually provide.

I thought you'd be flattered.
It seemed to work well for Collingwood the past couple of years.
We're just following your example. :?

I think we should refuse to play after 3/4 time..., wait, no we should refuse to play from the first bounce and then agree to play after 1/2 time. Or is this already the current game plan?

Unfortunately Collingwoods Boogyman Justin Davies wont be playing - so I reckon we play for the pick. 8)

In any case we usually save the important wins against Collingwood for Grand Finals.

Lol this is a hilarious topic. We have been trying to win for many years and got nowhere, what makes you even think that if we try this week we would win?

A draw would be perfect - still messes up their top 4 chances, we retain the PP and avoid the spoon.

Agree with ADP realistically we don't have a choice.

AGRO...love the comments....actually what I would love to see is Setanta playing losose in defence.
Give him the Jason Cloke role...let himn gets some runs and kicks....finish on a high and get him into the VFL finals.....

This kid has played 10 games....he is excellent at this stage...if he improves (v game time ) he will be outstanding.
