Lachlan Hansen...

That's right you heard it hear first!

Carlton is in love with Hansen by all reports and want him desperately.

They will be securing him with their first pick (or second pick
if they win today).I say or second pick because my mail is that Essendon* want Gibbs and the two clubs have worked all that out if you know what I mean......However judging by comments made by pagan regarding youth, and seeing our line up it looks like we are taking no chances..

The other big news I picked up in last nights interesting conversations is that one B.Mitchell is sticking the knifes into Pagans back trying to get the top job..

My source is as reliable as it gets with Mitchell, and I would be quietly confident Hansen will be wearing the navy blue next year if you catch my drift!!!

Hooray for Hanson! There's always midfielders a plenty but elite KPP's are rare, and they take longer to develope. It makes sense to take a KPP first

I’m all for a killer spine 8)

well if Gibbs is available on our first pick my preference is Gibbs we need our Midfield strengthened.
I think Gibbs / Murphy / Stevo / Simmo starts to show a strong midfielf core we desperately need.

So if Gibbs is not available then of course hanson would be my next selection

Yep, lets get more KPPs. After all we do have those four or five young midfield guns coming up through the ranks from the VFL to boost our midfield... oh wait 8)

Blackwell, Murphy.... who?

I hear ya wolfe, but just imagin a spine consisting of

Fevola
Kennedy
Murphy
Hansen
Bower/Hartlett (which would free up T-bird!)

That is an awsome spine that can be improved abit to boot if the right players come along.

You can build a team around a great spine, but i'm not so sure about a midfield (remember the spine includes the forward line, midfield, and the our defense)....

I admire your enthusiasm FF but the modern game is all about midfield. How many good KPPs do the Eagles and Crows have? They have amazing, skilled, hard working mids 4-6 very good to excellent ones and another 6 in support, and just some honest tryers in KPPs. Rutten is AA, Glass is having a breakthrough year, but their forwards are strugglers at best despite some of the best delivery in the comp.

I dont care for spine if we haven't got a midfield to support them. I dont buy that you can get mids anywhere in the draft - good ones anyway, and hope like hell that we're seriously trying to jumpstart our list with midfield strength. Its the way of the modern game.

I know Sheik (among others) love the big great spine but we get crunched week-in, week-out in the midfield and I hate watching it. We have to devote serious draft / trade value to the mids at this years draft otherwise our KPPs will be marginalised.

Just our of interest can we go through the clubs in the eight and work out spine vs midfield of each of them??
I reckon most of them dont have much of a spine but have pretty good midfields.

KPP arent as rare as people make out:

1999 draft- pick 4. m pavlich
2000 draft- pick 1.n riewoldt, pick 2 j.koschitzke
2002 draft-pick 3 j.brennan
2003 draft-pick 6 k.bradley
2004 draft- pick 2. j roughead, pick 5.l franklin
2005 draft-pick 4.j kennedy, pick 5.s pendlebury

yes, there are way more midfielders but KPP arent as rare as everyone thinks.

anyway im off to the game.

agreed Midfield is of the highest priority and more so with good disposal which Gibbs has from my understanding.

We have a strong forward line if we can deliver the ball into them properly.

I think Murphy has proven how important a good midfielder who can hit Fev lace out on a consistant basis well until he got injured.

Gibbs would just about complete our requirements for a strong midfield..

We have a potential good forwardline .... other needs would be a longterm ruckman and another key backman.

But again the link between ruck / forward and backline is the midfield we get that right all the other areas will benefit.

Carltons midfield is shit. The worst in the league. And with young guys being thrown in there with disposal as bad as Andrew Walker and Andrew Carazzo, Carlton definitely need elite midfield talent to go with Marc Murphy.

Carlton will take Gibbs without a doubt.

Well it was written in the paper about a month ago "Pagan had his heart set on Gibbs, but then he saw Hansen play".

Simmo / Walker

Simmo is already a member of our midfield and we're wooden spooners. And I'll give you Walker. Who else? Are we meant to have a four man midfield?

Pendlebury?

I have a radical proposal.
Lets just take the best player.

I'm sick of seeing our midfield get smashed.

We have the best FF in the league, let's put together a midfield that can service him properly.

Gibbs for mine.

So the following scenario exists:

If Pagan is coach at the draft: - Bryce Gibbs

If Mitchell is coach at the draft - Lachlan Hansen
