Can someone please tell me why our coach

- Didn’t bench Bannister after the 2nd time he got caught holding the ball
- Left Bannister on the field after he remonstrated with Didak and gave away a free kick/goal from in dead in front without the ball being bounced – straight after Lance gave away a free kick/goal from dead in front for doing the exact same thing
- Played our leading goalkicker Fev on the wing at various stages
- Played Lance for so long on Rocca
- Played Fisher at stages on the wing when he is a marking forward
- Gave the likes of Smith & Bower limited game time
- Brought in the useless De Luca and dropped Chris Bryan

Can't answer your Q's re: Banno - but some players are told before the game to take more risks - play on at all costs and make your opponent accountable. Banno may have been told this - I was more concerned at the lack of communication...Yelling "You're hot, you're hot" might be practised at training this week...

Re: Fev - Pies moved Clement onto him and was beating him. It's a move that was used at North in the mid-90's...even Carey pushed up onto the wing to try and get rid of Jakovich / Silvagni.

Re: Fish - needs to show that he can play other parts of the ground...as a wingman - he can push forward and unbalance their defence. I thought he did alright and I think with a Fev / Waite / Kennedy forward line he'll have to do more of the same in years to come.

Re: Lance on Anthony - not many other options there I'm afraid.

Re: Smith and Bower - still young and learning the pace of the game...I thought both were ok - Jesse had a role to play that he's not used to and was beaten, but all part of the learning curve. PB

Re: DeLuca instead of Bryan - both on limited time, but the McLaren / Bryan combo in the VFL proved both were too good for that level, but need to work harder to make it with the big boys.

The fact that Banno snotted that f****** Holland was good enough for me.

Re: De Luca when the hell will they realise that he will not cut it. 6ft 8 and 100+ kgs and weak as piss!!

Our MC thought he was good enough last year to give him a 2 year contract extension. Going no where

Well obviously Smith must be assured of a senior spot next year.

Why else would a player be given several stints on the ground totalling 23 minutes doing a role that he's not used to? :?
Learning curve hey?

Personally I'd like to see him perform in a role he's used to.
Then he can be assessed properly. too much to ask you think?

De Luca wasn't too bad yesterday, he chased and tackled hard, took a strong contested mark, he presented and kicked goals. More than any of our ruckman do.

I was happy for Banno to stay on. All he was trying to do is be creative and should be encouraged to do so.
With Fev on the wing we kicked 17 goals yesterday because we used more than one avenue to goal.
Lance played on Rocca long enough.
If Fisher was a reliable kick for goal you may have a point but he is unreliable so you don't.
Smith is being crucified, Bower to a lesser extent.
Swapped useless for useless, nil all draw.

I thought when he asked Elshaugh to pass him over the biscuits was a strange move particually seeing he has been going so well on his diet

Pagan said on radio early that he told players to run at all costs, bounce the ball and just take them on. They did, sometimes it payed off and others it didn't. Lack of communication didn't help.

With Deluca, thought he was okay yesty. His ruck work was good to give French a rest and he tackled great. Layed a few nice tackles. Kicked a couple of goals too.

If Deluca can learn not to run in Fev's way, he might be useful.

yeah there was one occasion i can remember when bannister was caught holding the ball (right on the 50 directly in front) and setanta was right next to him but didnt appear to be alerting him of the danger behind him or trying to lay a shepherd, you cant blame setanta but you can hope he learns from that mistake i dont care how many mistakes he makes this year and next year as long as he learns from them i dont want him to make crucial mistakes when we really dont need it in 3 or 4 years time.

The most baffling move in regards to coaching was the reappointment of Pagan by Ian Colins.

And to give him 3 years was even more baffling!!! Everyone seems to be intimidated by DP - he must be a tough guy!

Agree with your first point.

As for your second point - Essendon* kept Stephen Allessio on their list for nearly 10 years and he is of similar dimensions to De Luca - must be something about 6ft 8 Italians.

I wanna know why we flooded so much in the last qtr?

We may have flooded a MAX of 2min-3min the entire game up until 3qtr time..........................and then in the last qtr we just flood?

I dunno. It could be the reason why we didn't kick a goal in the last qtr. Maybe???? I dunno!
