In tomorrows Age with Caro.
This is becoming tiring and more than a little embarrassing.

What did you expect? Ron Joseph is Pagan's manager after all.

He stole most of Dirty Dave's party tricks.

So they are arguing over the signing or non-signing of a marketing contract. I ask the question... In what capacity is/has Pagan ever marketed the Carlton Football Club? Now Sheedy and Wallace, these guys know how to market a football club.

Pagan's a goner

BTW, whats the deal with Jim Watts coming in to "help Malouf out"

with what?? surely he's competant enough to do it himself? Or is there more to it that we don't see?

That story doesn"t cast a good light on either party: club or coach.

Carlton comes across as shifty and slimy, ever-eager to weasel its way out of a verbal agreement.

Pagan comes across as the Darrel Hair of the AFL.

It is rather ironic that Pagan had/has a portion of his salary derived from 'marketing' though.

No - the wheels are starting to turn in the right direction. The right end goals are there, we are just observing the process. Hopefully some of the jelly leg Directors have the nerve to make the right decisions when the time comes. Hopefully we have a president with guts?

But, I suppose, as long as he doesn't bring Fergus with him.

The article certainly made me uneasy. It's poor business to enter into a contract and not sign it, and then have the issue still unresolved almost four years later. As an employer, that really is a shabby way to treat a senior employee.

Agree Mallee the marketing component is a bit rich.

Hopefully it's a catalyst to pissing him off from the club.

Liked this bit...

The football review is largely being undertaken by directors Stephen Kernahan and Adrian Gleeson. Kernahan's relationship with Pagan has become relatively strained in recent months.

Forget about Pagan and his marketing [sic] contract.

Sticks and Gleason are overseeing the football department review?

Where is the objectivity? There is no way that Sticks should be doing it, given that he sits in the box on match day.

Gleason is new to the board but I'm not sure what his credentials are for doing a football department review, given that he has only played the game - not a pre-requisite in my book.

I can't believe Pagan has a marketing contract!

And I agree with you DownUnderChick, I'm not sure that Sticks should be doing the football department review.

Surely the fact that he sits in the box on match day is a reason that he SHOULD be part of the review, he has an insight into how everyone operates during games including Pagan and the assistants.

Adrian Gleeson is a pretty astute bloke. Was brought onto the board for 'football expertise' - but I'm sure will be taking a lot of guidence from his former skipper.
Why wouldn't it be appropriate for Sticks to do the footy dept. review? I would have thought he was the only man who could do it.

Remember this comes from Caro. My understanding of the situation is that the only strain on the relationship comes from Sticks not seeing eye to eye with Elshaug...Pagans best mate. I reckon Libba is safe...a lot at the club have spoken about the extra yard he is willing to put in to develop the players. Trout has become a bit complacent and his usefulness in the box on matchdays is limited....there was also a whisper that he was not entirely happy with Craig Bradley running a coaching session a while back...but with the contract stipulating that DP gets a choice of at least one assistant (with Elshaug his right hand man) - Elshaug is going to be tough to budge and that's where the difficulty lies.

Perhaps Daniel Grollo will come in with the million needed to get rid of Denis in return for a years free naming rights sponsorship of the redeveloped 'Grollo Park'.
