So its the time of year again that i try to get any of ye interested in irish sports to watch the All Ireland Hurling Final which is probably the best day in the Irish Sporting calendar. This years final sees my beloved Cork ( Rebels ) facing off against Kilkenny (Cats). Cork are goin for our first three in a row since 1976 to 1978 whereas Kilkenny are going for a first senior crown since 2003 (the day Setanta scored in final). Cork will start as favourites as this is our fourth final in a row whilst Kilkenny are always dangerous. At present its Cork 30 to Kilkenny 28 in all time All Ireland Senior titles. This is a real traditional final. So if any of this interests you please watch the match on sunday. Throw in is at 3.30 p/m GMT. If anyone is interested in learning more about the match i would encourage you to check out www.rebelgaa.com for lots of discussion on the match from the rebel point of view.

Go Cork! Unfortunately don't think we will get much of it here. I think one network SBS used to show some hurling but now is probably only on Pay TV. Might get a bit of it on SBS World Sport. Has Sean Og been captain for all three? Setanta won't even be able to watch as he will be in Sydney fronting up to TAdgh Kenelly and the Swans

I'm relieved this thread is about Kilkenny living without the boys.

 im hoping that was a typo brad!!! Thats like saying Collingwood are living without sticks or SOS

Sean ógs not captain this year Gerry. Each year the senior hurling champions get to nominate the county captain for the next year, in 2004 Na piarsaigh won the county senior title so they nominated Sean Óg as captain. Last year newtownshandrum won county so they've nominated Pat Mulcahy. The sydney match is on 4.10 am over here so id say santy will be watching alright :-D

KB, I notice various Irish pubs and the Celtic Club are showing the final at 12:30am Monday our time. So Setanta and Aisake may get down to the Celtic Club to watch, should be great atmosphere there

Sorry Kevin. Confused myself :?

On a brighter note Setanta is having a great game today, matching up on Barry hall in the 2nd quarter and beat him convincingly a few times. Was let down by a poor Lappin kick after he'd made the play.

I feel more certain by the week that he's not only going to make it but he'll do so in a big way.
