The Aker expose in the Age, reads what has Acker done to be exiled.....( I quote Andrew Rule's article) "he did not sell forged finals tickets as a drug-addicted Carlton player did".
Another feel good article  "relevance your honour"
Nice stuff, am I the only one who missed this, I could use some tickets

This wouldn't have been a 'former' Carlton player would it? I certainly don't think it was someone who was at the club at the time it was happening.

Is that something we can lock in?

My issue with it is the relevance to Ackermaniac, many more relevant and recent examples, e.g. Tarrant and his attempted joy ride, Brad Ottens, Chad Morrison, Gardiner, Cousins, Lynch, Spider is perfect so why use such an obscure and defamtory reference. Naturally you assume the player was well finished playing when the incident happened.
There are some unnecessarily nasty things said in the Age from time to time I remember an article a few ago about an aboriginal footballer who played for Fitzroy and was refused by the Blues some (approx) 90 years ago. Not sure many other clubs would just lie down and take it without putting some legal fear into some of these coffee table supplement journos.

Sir Doug Nicholls

I think the fact that it actually happened would have made the club think twice about sueing.

and he wasn't refused, he left because of the atmosphere. The club trainers refused to rub him down because he was black

Do you think it was used as a bit of payback for the Kernahan comments at the B&F? I'm sure the papers won't miss an opportunity to slip the boot in when they get a chance.

Caro doesn't need to while Kernahan keeps sticking the gun to his head and asking someone else to help him with the safety catch.

I noticed the story as well and the reference, whilst extremely vague in that, I'm sure no-one knows who the hell the journo was talking about, highlights how far we have fallen.

That's just bad journalism regardless of what Sticks said at the B&F night.

The newspapers are starting to sound like gossip magazines.

So when was this supposed drug addicted Carlton player flogging forged Finals tickets?

In one of the grand finals in the early 80's there were some forged members tickets.

Many years later, one of the players allegedly involved became addicted to pain killing drugs from taking so many through his career.

Not quite the Andrew Rule picture of player forging finals tickets to earn cash to feed cocaine habit. What is the bet Rule is an Essendon* supporter.
