Sneaky leakers. Pressure yet to ease on Pagan ![]() Denis wishing Mitchell all the best at the VFL final. Quote: Mitchell has enjoyed a relatively successful season with the Bullants. Much has been made of the ageing AFL veterans he has had at his disposal, and even more of the strong support he has enjoyed from board members Adrian Gleeson and Stephen Kernahan, and the likes of Greg Williams, but as all those men now know, they made a tactical error in pushing for him to replace Pagan. Quote: Perhaps the board is still hoping he will walk, otherwise why would it insult him by trying to foist Mitchell upon him for another year? Quote: Brown is gathering together a group that now looks more intent on a partial board takeover than a complete spill. Quote: Complicated deals are being worked out behind the scenes — four directors are up for re-election at the end of the year including Gleeson — and one scenario would have Smorgon remain as president but Pagan depart. The future of Malouf as chief executive remains shaky at best. Quote: Pagan went to Western Australia for a break and to watch Michael Gardiner play in the WAFL. But he is not so desperate to risk everything on an injured ruckman with a long list of off-field misdemeanours. Pagan is looking at every option but is surely not likely to abandon his recent youth policy and take Gardiner.
Now that the curtain has closed on Carlton's season with the Bullants' loss, Pagan should be working with his team around-the-clock on list management. But what team? And can his heart fully be in it when he knows it all could come to an ugly end in the lead-up to the club's December annual meeting? And according to Caro the Saints have Ratten on a list of 20 candidates for coach. |

GET LOST PAGAN YOU PARASITE!!!! YOU'VE [REDACTED] THIS CLUB UP ENOUGH ALREADY!!!!!!! I just hope and pray he doesn't use his last couple of months in charge to wreck out list anymore with his shocking lack of insight into modern football. No Gardiner, no trades for chumps, and Bryce Gibbs with pick 1 NOT Lachlan Hansen. |

I'm actually very disappointed in Carolines article. While probably on the money, her terminology is rather negative to the club. |

But wait, there's more... Denis Pagan ruled out http://www.heraldsun.news.com.au/footy/ ... 42,00.html Quote: It is understood St Kilda's preferred option is for an experienced coach, but Pagan's manager, Ron Joseph, ruled out a move across town by his client.
"Certainly not. He can't enter that. He has got a contract with Carlton," Joseph said yesterday. |

He'd be an idiot not to talk to them, because there's still a fair chance he may not be coaching here next year. The choice of a team with a great list on the verge of a flag or a spoon team that's a rabble, where, in reality, no-one really wants him. No-brainer really. Just a matter of the Saints wanting him! |

Sounds like a guy who didn't score an interview, but saving face through his manager. 2 spoons in a row isn't likely to get you one of the best gigs in coaching. Especially after you've been so publically emasculated by your football club. Caro's dead right, though. The current situation is horrendous for the club. Going into a trade period, draft period and pre-season and no-one really knows if Pagan's going to be the coach next year. How do we plan for 2007? It's crazy. |

Agree- a decision needs to be made, and made quickly.. That includes the Brown ticket being formed.. |

That's how I read it as well. What was Joseph supposed to say "Yes Denis has been interviewed and can't wait to get out of Carlton". |

There is a method in her madness that article was written to cause more of a destablising effect on the board than any thing else. Up till Sticks outburst Caro had been trying to suggest that the carlton board were a bunch of headless chooks. Sticks had his swipe - Caro lays low again for a week then comes out with Pagan still in trouble after the board said he was safe. Over to you Sticks at the moment its Caro 2 Sticks ( Carlton Board)1 |

if pagan's coaching was as bad as people think .. why would stkilda be interested in him .. ? doesnt make sense |

I can't see anything wrong with her article. There is no positive angle when reporting the current state of the Carlton Football Club. Whether she relishes our demise or not, she would only be compromised if she wrote a glowing article about the Blues. The current board has f*#ked professionalism up the ar$e. |

They are not in the slightest interested in him. Only the media have linked him to StKilda. |

Can't actually see anything much wrong with the article. I wasn't expecting: "Carlton is in great shape heading into the preseason. A strong board which includes media friendly public relations man Sticks Kernahan, a strong football department working in close harmony with the senior coach who has the complete backing of the board, and a set of strong creative alternative gameday strategies designed to exploit the weaknesses of Sydney, West Coast, Adelaide, and Freo". ![]() ![]() |

Unfortunately I'd rather hear the truth. Ian Coutts can do the positive spin on things. If she's on the money, she's on the money |
