Adelaide – N.Craig, S.Trigg
Brisbane – L.Matthews
CARLTON – D.PAGAN, G.SMORGAN
Collingwood – E.Everywhere, M.Shithouse, N.Buckley, N.Thug from ‘73.
Essendon* – K.Sheedy, M.Lloyd, J.Hird
Fremantle – C.Connolly, C.Schwab
Geelongtime – F.Costa, B.Brownless
Hawthorn – J.Kennett, J.Dunstall.
Melbourne – N.Daniher
Nth.Melb. – D.Laidley
Port Adel. – M.Williams
Richmond – T.Wallet
St.Failure – R.Buttress
Sydney – P.Roos, R.Colless
Westcoast – J.Worsfold,
Western Bulldogs – R.Eade, D.Smorgan

A major problem of ours is the lack of ability to sell ourselves and get our positives out there.

We need to bring in some proven tv ‘performers’ to be our official spokespeople I reckon.

I’d like to see 2 people brought into the club.
1. Nicole Livingstone.
Get her on the board. Team leader. Successful (team) sports backround. Fantastic media personality.
2. David Parkin.
Hire him as a ‘media consultant’ or whatever (same as Brownless at Geelong). Doesn’t matter if people agree with him or not…he demands attention when he speaks. Media respects him.

Anyone else?

We didn't have ONE guest on 'On The Couch' this season which is pathetic

Do the club allow players on? Rarely hear them on radio too

Coutts won't let them on for fearing of them 'trashing' the brand that the Board has worked so hard to build up. :(

On the popularity stakes, we're slightly ahead of genital warts.
Carlton has always been "too hard" to deal with.
Now that we are nobodys, its come home to roost.

No offense to Denis.....no, take that back. Offense to Denis, he is the king of cliches and gives less insight than Naomi Robson.
Apart from Hutchy the AFL patsy, who would seriously want to interview him.

Fancy having Denis on the couch.
It would be easier to send along a CD player with Denis' cliche' repertoire.

"Well Gerard, we've been to hell and back these last 4 years."

"No, I dont look to the past Mike, its no good looking in the rear view mirror. You'll smash into the car in front"

"No one works harder than the coaches at Carlton Robert"

"I dont worry about the board Mike, the board administrates and the coaches coach. I only worry about things in my control"

Nah, I dont think so.

It would have to be a bloody long look in the mirror! We would be 500km behind the next car.

Rubbish! Coutts doesn't run the shop, and if anything, is supportive of getting the message out.

Pagan wouldnt say anything of meaning, answer a real question, or be of interest to anyone other than Melvey so why would you ask him on the show? Nothing controversial or interesting would come from Pagan so he just doesn't rate. Smorgan? Not sure of Smorgan. Nice speech at the B&F but delivered with all the essence of my Year 10 Science teacher.

Add Kouta as a nice guy but not a media hound and Big Red as the great unspoken and you dont have many people talking the talk at Carlton.

Thank God for Fev. Simmo and Murphy have a big future in front of cameras too.

It says in the bible that Coutts is General Manager Communications and that Grant Williams is General Manager Football Operations, but like Elwood said what do they do?

I reckon that was poor form as well.

Rather than the old guys, there was one Marc Murphy who would have had plenty of time to get on there, give his thoughts about being #1 draft pick and then dealing with injuries so early on after a promising start. What about the Coleman medallist and All-Australian?

Piss weak. Whenever we have a good story to sell it just gets popped on the shelf until it's use by date has passed.

I know it's not as simple as just getting what you want heard in the media, but FFS, if we're proclaiming a youth policy then get our kids out there representing the club. Murhpy, Simmo, Kennedy, Walker et al … LET THEM BE HEARD!

Tells jokes at the Coaches Luncheons?

GM Communications - what does that involve....website, annual report blurbs, speeches? Arranges game day stuff for Directors, guests, fans, entertainment (if on), liaising with people?

And camelboy, what you are calling for would also require someone to overrule Pagan. Yet again. Same person, different topic.

Perhaps theres a clause in his new marketing contract stating 'You will assist in the marketing of the club by:

a) not offering any more cliches
b) allowing your players to speak to the media'

Why is it that we are more concerned about how we are perceived than how we are and where we are heading.

There seems to be a fascination with marketing and that somehow if we were marketed well, then all will be ok.

Saying that we already have one of the biggest media personalities out there in Fev, and while it would seem great to have a media performer like Wallets and Sheedy, I would take substance over style.

Get wins on the board and the rest will follow.

Here's a brainstorm SA.
How about we try to perform on field AND improve our image and marketability.
Crazy idea hey?

Personally I dont think it's too difficult to do both. :?

Haha fair call.

He also pumps up the clubs tyres whenevr he can as well. This is a club that tried like hell to trade him. He defends the club whenever he can and is a better media 'performer' than he's often given credit for.

But yeah, Smorgon & Pagan... when it comes to the media at least they are living yesterday's rules. "Say nothing and let the football do the talking". Only this time, we're mute.

Makes you salivate, doesn't it?

Eade stands with Roos as the best media performed coach. And .....well, the rest is obvious, isn't it.......

I thought that to, but...

I might be wrong, (could've been last year) but wasn't Stevens invited, but couldn't make it, and was replaced with Houlihan at the last minute?

I remember Houla on Footy central with Dunstal, but I'm sure someone like Houla covered for Stevens.

Stevens was trying to get to the studio but he was being tagged really heavily.
