I had a look at the two great goals from Aaron Davey and I think they

are the only contenders with Eddie's goal for goal of the year.

The thing in Eddie's favour is that Davey's goals were directly in front of

goal. There is no doubt that Eddie's goal had a greater degree of dificulty.

If you asked each player to do the same action - i think Eddie's would be

more difficult to replicate.

I guess some will think that these three goals are the only contenders.

They are in my books.

Davey's goal at the Gabba was a freakish act but only really involved one split second moment of brilliance; the kick itself

Eddie's had the smother, the gather, and a diffilcult angle to work with.

What about Kouta's? What about Simmo's? What about Fev's?

Eddie's goal was awsome but does anyone remember Patrick Bowden's from round 1??? That was pretty good but seems to get forgotten because it happened so long ago.

I'm thinking it would probably be at the AFLPA, which is on Friday. Don't think they do the Grand Final, although it pretty much feels as though Leapin Leo won it last year.

Watching Davey's goal on the Brownlows for the first time, that was amazing. However, I agree with Brian Taylor, Eddie's is goal of the year, haven't heard him that excited since he yelpped "Sammmpiii", and that was a good omen.

If you want to see it again...

You can also watch and wonder why Didak didn't have to front the tribunal at the very least, let alone get some weeks.

It still does my head that the Dick didn't get wiped out.

I didn't realise the connection between the bump leading towards Eddie's goal!

If they look at the goal in context then Eddie should win it. The game had just exploded, plus Eddie smothered Lockyer's handball to get the ball in the first place. GO EDDIE!

..yeah i agree, given the workrate Edwardo gave for his goal it's pretty damn good, and a serious contender.. ..Carrazzo's similar pocket snap was good too.. ..Davey's goal was flashy and so will get some proprs too.. ..i'd like Betts to win, would be nice for him to get some recognition..

I think - according to the AFL grand final record - they are choosing between 3 goals

1) eddie's.... which required evasion, amazing skill and a steal of the footy

2) goddard's - nice torp that went about 65 metres. pretty good. but not as good as eddie's due to eddie's having more components to make it a great goal.

3) and one from a richmond player - i have forgotton who. a boundary line one.

That'd be Pat Bowden.

I'm amazed Davey's soccer goal isn't in the top 3 after everyone in the media orgasming over it whenever it was put on...which was a lot. :garthp:

Eddie's goal for the situation he was in at the time....surrounded by players; on the boundary on his wrong side; and a deliberately chosen banana kick with a split second in which to kick it....no contest!

The bump makes the goal a winner and points to what flair he has

Thanks for signing up again Eddie[/quote]
