I find this a little disturbing:

But no more. NO MORE!

I no longer want to look back, and the blame game is long over. It doesn’t matter anymore.

What matters is moving onwards and upwards.

That sounds like code for "We're quietly dropping the push to re-instate our round 1 PP"

"We have one of the greatest coaches of the modern era in Denis Pagan. Denis will head an expanded coaching team in 2007, to make the most of our squad, and this Panel will be increased by 2 extra Assistants over the current number."

Our current number would be?

PS: Thankgod we have some from of recognition that Fisher and Betts have resigned on our website. I may be hasty in wanting it sooner than later, but to me the sooner is the better.

Not sure if this has been mentioned already in another post, but read in a newspaper article recently (not sure, which, may have been The Australian, as I have been interstate for work recently) that Jim Watts' report back to the AFL about the way our Club is being run at management level was less than complimentary, with special criticism of the deal with MC Labour for naming rights at the ground.

Anyone know any more of this? Anyone know of the likelihood of Malouf to keep his job?

What an election speech, I have small tingles.

Graham's pulling out all stops now. :?

I'd say where was this when he came on board but he hasn't even been at the helm for 12 months.

I'd like to congratulate Graham and his speechwriter, following up with an expression of my distaste at whichever misfit thought they could transcribe and format the speech for the website.

Seriously though, looks like Smorgo's stepping onto the front foot. Good on him for having a crack.

Whether you are sceptical or not, at least it was said, and we need more of that.

If it takes speech writers then maybe all communications need too be made through speech writers.

Maybe a new one can be hired for Pagan next year, and he can show his face more on media outlets.

I am pleased that Smorgon said what he did, because positive reinforcement like that can only asssist in making those who are non commital about becoming a member think about it in a more positive light.

Naturally on field performance, recruitment etc also help.

But at least something positive.

We need vision on these lines to become successful club again, not the current amateur hour antics...

It was a positive speech and all you can do is still be negative. Go and take some anti depresants. Pathetic!!!

It is funny, all people do on this site is bitch and moan about the negativity and how the club doesn't say anything positive. Now they do and all people do is bitch and moan.

Strange people.

From what I have heard Mr Smorgan is in for a couple of torrid months and it all hinges on The Watts Report. The Afl are apparently not very happy with the Carlton board but so far are a little reluctant to release the Watts report as it will only get the Elliott / Brown faction even more motivated and the last thing the AFL wants is a board with their backing .

Watch this space the board spill you have all been looking for may happen but not in the way you think . Prepare yourself for a AFL administrated club much along the lines of the swans in the late 80,s early 90's

Action speaks loader than words. He has two months to instigate a plan and sell it to the members and produce some results. As far as I'm concerned talk is cheap and one positive speech over the course of the season is worth nothing.

See the whole mess that Sydney Blue has raised is due to the incompetance of our board. That is a result of actions, not words.

That'd be alright.

They got away with salary cap cheating during that era. The only punishment handed down out of the whole thing was to deregister Diesel once he came to Carlton

Was a positive speech......lets hope Fraser Brown gets his ticket together and we get a new board and new president...

Fahour, Pratt and these guys were special guests of Smorgan at the function. Who do you think is going to run for the new ticket? Fraser Brown can't do it, anyone who heard his interview on 3AW during the 'sack Pagan' weekend would realise this guy has absolutely no clue at all. Full of stuff like "yeah look you probably think I'm sayin this coz he's me mate but i'd make Ratts coach". Just full of umms and arrs and while his heart might be in the right place you couldn't give this guy control. Who else does that leave?

The sheep have cried for years after being called 'white ants' by Colin DeLutis - so that leaves him out.

Who else is left? If no one is putting up their hand and need to be dragged into a Fraser Brown ticket why the hell would you want them on the board?

CG.. Brown doesnt have to get down to the nitty gritty of what he is about till the AGM. so why does he have to sell stuff to anyone right now???
He will when the time is right.
At worst he will force a few changes to keep the peace for now.

But he certainly threw his weight around and is being heard . I can assure you he and his mates are being taken very seriously by everyone including the AFL and the current board.

Its all in the timing when he needs to impress ...
