With the pending board meeting next week, Michael Malouf could find himself unemployed, who is in on the short list to take over?

If Malouf is fired has the club been headhunting likely prospects for the position?

How much blame can be thrown the direction of the CEO for the constant issues the club has had this year?

Yeah right. You mean a professional approach at replacing a key employee? What do you think this is?

Frucked. The place is absolutely fu(ked. They should hand the keys in to the Spew. Honestly. (i don;t mean that I'm just annoyed right now)

We go from embarrassment to embarrassment to scandal to embarrassment.

A more useless situation i have not seen

If we cant re-sign our key players prior to trade week what chance do you reckon that we've got a succession plan for admin staff??

He has been linked - was here many years ago under Stephen Gough and Ian Collins.

Speaking of Stephen Gough, he'd be a good candidate for the board with all his experience at Carlton, business, and lately, the MCC.

Speaking of which what does this tell you about the current state of our club -

Former CEOs:

- Ian Collins - CEO of TelstraDome
- Stephen Gough - CEO of the MCG/MCC
- James Sutherland (CFO of Carlton now CEO of ACB)

If I was James Sutherland and I was the current CEO of the ACB - I wouldnt be looking at adding CEO of Carlton to my CV to further my career.

A great

He would be good no question but I think as CEO of the MCC - there would be conflict of interest issues. People whinged long and loud about Collo's conflict of interest - it would be almost identical in this instance.

If James Sutherland steps foot inside Carlton Football Club again I would seriously consider taking a sabbatical from the Blues. That would just about end it for me...I'd move to the Gold Coast and only come back when he left...by which time I would hope that the club still existed, but would doubt it.

I'd enquire about David Knott. Former ASIC Chair..Carlton Supporter and joined the board of Mayne a few years ago...not sure if he's still doing that role - but a proven leader with a lot of business acumen and integrity.

Incompetent...surrounds himself with smart, good, hard working people, has got to where he is only due to nepotism...sits in meetings and doodles...doesn't exactly 'get' it. Needs everything explained to him in 'layman's terms'...when left in charge of something such as 'ticketing' - has absolutely no clue.

His last short lived stint at the club was hardly brilliant...quite the opposite.

Rumour has it - I've never been able to confirm this; but it came from a pretty good source in the Qantas Club Lounge - that he went on a trip to New York and Malcolm Speed (now head of ICC) hooked him up to attend a Yankees game and meet Brian Cashman (Gm and Snr.VP) and Lonn Trost (COO) of the Yankees. After meeting with him and talking to him over a few club sandwiches in a superbox they departed and asked security to recheck his ID and credentials as they thought that a guy who was CEO of Cricket Australia could not be as clueless and naive as Sutherland.

When he was appointed as CA CEO this was part of the media release...

Quote:
CA to head ACB
James Sutherland, a chartered accountant, has been appointed CEO of the Australian Cricket Board (ACB) replacing Malcolm Speed.

A former first class cricketer and stand-out performer in Melbourne’s district cricket competition at the University and Melbourne cricket clubs, Sutherland started his professional career at Ernst & Young.

His professional career has also included the very difficult job of fitting all of Carlton Football Club’s highly paid players under the salary cap, as finance manager and recently as the ACB general manager of commercial operations.

In joining the ACB three years ago, Sutherland, 35, and in addition to his finance and administrative responsibilities has been responsible for building an effective relationship between the ACB directors, ACB management, Australian Cricketers Association and the state associations on key issues.

From memory...wasn't he involved in some of the illegal payments when at Carlton?

He 'alledgedly' was - and he walked off scott free and into one of the 'cushiest', well regarded CEO jobs in the country.

Yeah - my mentioning of the name was loaded.

Some journos with long memories have been gathering material for a while. Got off scot free according to them.
