B. CARRAZZO THORNTON O'HAILPIN
HB. WALKER WHITNALL SCOTLAND
C. GIBBS STEVENS SIMPSON
HF. LAPPIN KENNEDY WAITE
F. BETTS FEVOLA FISHER
FOLL. MCCLAREN MURPHY KOUTOUFIDES

I haven't included a back up ruckmen at this stage. I'm hoping we pick up a half decent one in the upcoming drafts.
What do people think?

Hmm - think I'd prefer a fully-fit Hartlett in the team than Saddington and maybe Jackson/Russell instead of Carazzo.

Aren't there whispers that Saddington may have to retire because of the deterioration of his knees?

Russell Thornton Hartlett
Scotland Setanta Bower
Walker Stevens Simpson
Waite Kennedy Lappin
Gibbs Fevola Whitnall

DeLuca Murphy Kouta

McLaren Houlihan Carrazzo Bentick

EMERG Blackwell Wiggins Fisher Betts

Assuming we don't get a ruckman, I've gone for the tallest option at centre bounces. (I wish Aisake was ready to help here)

Assuming we pick up Gibbs (goalkicker and good 1 on 1)

Kouta and Bentick rotate as clearance players (hard ball) Blackers could fill this role

Houlihan, Carrazzo, Gibbs to rotate with Stevens, Simpson, Murphy, Walker

Carrazzo can go BP to release Russell for midfield rotation

Wiggins will play as indicated by Pagan

I agree that Hartlett should be given heaps of time pre season and put into either CHB or FB with Thornton.

This would free up Lance for a HFF spot next to Fev. I'd also swap Saddington for Bryan for most games so we have a relief ruckman when we're getting spanked.

if we pick up an 18yo ruckman, he probably won't be ready full time for at least 12-24 months.

Couldn't squeeze the B&F winner in there somewhere, grroundertyuire...

If so, please not at CHB he must play forward to give us any chance at all.

How is this different from the 2006 team? With the exception of Gibbs it is identical to the one that was smashed all year.

I reckon if we pick up Gibbs and another mid with pick 17/19, the second mid will probably get a gig from Round 1. So that's 2 new inclusions. In fact, unless we go tall, the depth of this draft could well see our 1st 3 selections playing senior footy within the first two months.

Our rucks are a real worry though. A REAL worry.

That's GOLD with Leuenberger in there.

It sure makes a difference to have a ruckman that will grow with the young squad.

Whitnall in the forwardline !!! I'd drop Betts...and Bryan, McLaren, DeLuca...what's the difference none of them are AFL ruckmen.

sh it forgot about lance - we should have traded him. I seriously struggle to find a place for him in the team as dumb as that may sound, i have tried to go with as much youth as possible, dont wanna use lance at chb want thornton there , want hartlett to develop at fullback, want bower busting the lines off half back, want setanta doing similar, cant play lance in the midfield and the forward line is stacked, dont want to drop bryan cos who else will back up the ruck - gee cant fit the best and fairest winner in - what does that say

i guess we suffer in the ruck and drop bryan and rotate whitnall, hartlett, bower, ohailpin through the backline and whitnall can ruck in the defensive 50 where needed (oh god ) and kennedy can ruck in the forward 50 , this should help bear the burden on leuenberger in his first year.

I can see us stuffing up and trying to turn kennedy into a ruckman

Those who want to pick Gibbs seem to just be wanting him because "people" say that he's good; how many of these people have seen him play?

If you have, then good, but 1 reason I stay out of most draft discussion is because I haven't seen any of them play.

I can only go on people's supposed perceptions. As such, I'd rather comment on things like our needs...I think those of you who don't watch the U18 stuff can't comment authoritatively on who is good. Of course there are a lot of posters on here who have seen quite a bit of U18 footy and I think it'd be good if we left some space for those who've seen them to give us their thoughts.

If we don't pick up Gibbs, I won't be spewing, however, I expect who we pick up to be a gun.
